Silong Bridge

Silong bridge, ancient stone bridge construction. Located in Ludong village, Dongpu town, Jinghu New District, Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province. It is composed of three and a half arch bridge and twenty stone beam bridge. The total length is 96.4 meters and the width is 3 meters. The clear span of the three span arch bridge is 5.4 meters, 6.1 meters and 5.4 meters. The bridge is like a long dragon across Jianhu Lake, with magnificent momentum and beautiful scenery. The arch of the three span main bridge is built longitudinally and in parallel sections, and the piers are of thin pier structure. According to Jiatai's Kuaiji Zhi, the bridge may have been rebuilt on the site of luxui bridge in Song Dynasty. There are two walls on the bridge, and two bridge couplets are carved on the wall: "the road has been built for nearly a thousand years, reaching the north and south, and Mingchi's 20 eyes connect the East and the West.". It shows that the bridge was built in Song Dynasty. Before the reconstruction, the original bridge should be Lu Xu Bridge, which was repeatedly mentioned by Lu You, a poet of Song Dynasty. This bridge is recorded in the history of science and technology of China (bridge volume).

The long bridge is composed of a three hole stone arch bridge and a 16 hole stone beam bridge, with a total length of 96.40 meters and a width of 2 meters. It spans the Qingdian lake from north to south. The stone arch bridge is close to the north bank, with a total length of about 26 meters, a clear span of 6.10 meters for the middle hole, a height of 3.10 meters for the arch rise, a clear span of 5.40 meters for the side hole, a height of 2.54 meters for the arch rise, and a thin pier and thin arch; the stone beam bridge is low and connected with the south end of the arch bridge, with an entrance stone pavilion on the south bank.

With reasonable design and unique shape, Silong bridge is not only convenient for navigation, but also convenient for cross-strait traffic, saving labor and materials. It is a bridge type suitable for wide river course and gentle flow, and has high research value.

In May 2013, Silong bridge was merged with Bazi bridge, Guangning bridge, Guangxiang bridge, Taiping Bridge, Xiegong bridge, tifan bridge, Baiwang bridge, Jiedu bridge, Rongguang bridge, Jingkou bridge, xikuahu bridge and Yingen bridge, named Shaoxing ancient bridge group, and listed in the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
