The gate house is the place where the original pawn was made. It is a two-story building with five bays, with a width of 11.80 meters and a depth of 7.40 meters. In the open room, the beams are lifted, with seven purlins and three columns. The front eaves and the front golden pillars are on the first floor, with a boat Pavilion. The front eaves are built with heavy brick walls, a stone warehouse gate in the middle, a hard roof on the top, a tile with Yin and Yang, and a five flower gable on both sides. The front building and the back building are all five bay, and the beam structure is similar to that of the gate house. In the north of the front building, there is an underground storage room about 2 meters deep, with fine wood carvings and brick carvings. The gate house is surrounded by tall gables.
Shangde pawnshop has reasonable layout, regular and orderly, commercial and residential integration, clear functional zoning, architectural framework with local traditional characteristics, and exquisite wood and brick carvings. It is a typical commercial and residential integration building in Shaoxing in the late Qing Dynasty and provides a typical example for studying the architectural pattern and development history of traditional pawnshop.
