Xianghua Bridge
Xianghua bridge is located in front of haizang temple in Yushan Xiling (commonly known as zushi mountain) of Changshu City, Suzhou City, crossing fushuiyan. It used to be a stone bridge in front of Baoyuan temple. Xianghua bridge is a single hole stone arch bridge, which was built in Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. The road was built with granite, and it was built in parallel.
Brief introduction of ancient bridge
It is 3.25m wide, 7.60M long and 1.60m high, with 16 steps at both ends. There are two pairs of couplets on the pillars. The eastern couplet says, "the shadow of the bow soars into the sky and flows through thousands of valleys, and the name of the flower alone shows the fragrance of the door." the Western couplet says, "the teeth of the wild geese are arranged horizontally to remove the smoke, the waist of the rainbow is high, and the spring stone is galloping.".
On November 17, 1982, Xianghuaqiao was declared as a cultural relic protection unit of Changshu City by the municipal government.
historical background
According to the Qing Dynasty's Chang Zhao He Zhi manuscript: "there is a Buddhist temple on the Fushui rock, and there is a stone bridge across the mountain stream outside the gate", which means this bridge. According to the annals of zanghai Temple of the Republic of China, "Xianghua bridge, the main road of Xinmao temple in March of Guangxu, was built." Located in Changshu Yushan scenic area, the bridge is one of the Yushan historic sites. It is well preserved, compact and of high historical value. It is now a municipal cultural relic protection unit.
