Shanghai Peking Opera Theater is a national key Peking Opera Troupe appraised by the Ministry of culture of the people's Republic of China. It is a famous art performance group in China. It was founded in March 1955 on the basis of the Peking Opera Troupe of the former East China Experimental Theatre and the people's Peking Opera Troupe. The first president was Mr. Zhou Xinfang, a Peking Opera master. The current president is Zhang Fan.

General situation

Shanghai Peking Opera Theater is not only famous in China, but also has performed in more than 20 countries in Europe, the United States and Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Over the past 40 years since its establishment, Shanghai Peking opera academy has absorbed and brought up a large number of outstanding actors, screenwriters, directors, musicians, stage artists and management talents, making brilliant contributions to the inheritance and development of Peking Opera Art and the construction of the theater. For a long time, the theater has inherited, created and performed more than 500 excellent traditional dramas, mythological dramas, historical dramas, modern dramas and liantai local dramas, including magnificent masterpieces and exquisite exquisite works, with fresh and unrestrained Shanghai style. It also contains the strong points of Beijing school.

In the past ten years, Shanghai Peking Opera Theater has been a pioneer in the reform of literature and art system, and has achieved fruitful results. It has won the title of national advanced collective in cultural work. The establishment of Tianchan Beijing Opera Center in 1994 marks that the theater management mechanism is moving forward in a healthy direction that is more conducive to the liberation of artistic productivity. Since 1995, the activities of "Peking Opera to youth", "Shanghai Peking Opera Tour" and "Shanghai Peking Opera tour to the South" have attracted the attention of people from all over the country and achieved remarkable results. Shanghai Peking opera academy has been promoting Peking Opera Art in more than 100 schools in 14 districts and counties of the city. It makes a beneficial exploration for "popularizing the art of Peking Opera and carrying forward the national culture". Jin Xiquan, a young actor of Shanghai Peking opera academy, will perform in Peking Opera. Four famous yepai operas, qunyinghui, Luocheng, Lvbu and Diaochan, and zhourenxiansao, will appear one after another. After the first performance, Jin Xiquan will pay homage to ye Shaolan in front of the audience.

The dramas created in the new period include Cao Cao and Yang Xiu, Cao Xueqin, cimao for prince, Hu Sanniang and Wang Ying, baoliandeng, Zhenguan grand event, incorruptible official Yu Chenglong, revenge of the Prince (the above ancient costume drama), blood tragedy, life and death world, YINGSHANHONG (the above modern drama), etc.

Historical evolution

Founded in March 1955, Shanghai Peking opera academy is composed of several original public Peking opera troupes, East China Experimental Peking Opera Troupe of East China Opera Research Institute, Shanghai People's Peking Opera Troupe and Xinmin Peking Opera Troupe. After the Tianchan stage was changed to a public one, it was also managed by the theater.

Before the outbreak of the cultural revolution in 1966, the theater participated in the production of Wu Song, song Shijie, Zhou Xinfang's stage art, you Sanjie and other Peking Opera films, recording the dance stage art of Zhou Xinfang, Gai jiaotian, Tong Zhiling, Li Yuru and other Peking opera performing artists.

Since the beginning of the cultural revolution, two modern Peking Operas (Modern Peking Opera) have been included in the first batch of eight model operas, namely "outwit the mighty Tiger Mountain" and "harbor". In the second batch of model plays, "Ode to the Dragon River" and "panshiwan" are also rehearsed in the theater. "Seizing Weihushan", "Haigang", "Ode to Longjiang" and "panshiwan" have all been made into Peking Opera films.
