Historical evolution
In 1949, Zhou Enlai suggested Mei Lanfang return to live in Beijing.
In 1951, Mei Lanfang moved into the No. 1 courtyard of Huguo Temple (now the gate number is changed to No. 9).
In 1968, Mei Lanfang's family and Secretary Xu Jichuan moved out of Mei Lanfang's former residence

Mei Lanfang memorial hall is a typical Beijing courtyard. The gate is opened in the southeast corner of the courtyard, and there is a shadow wall inside the gate. There are two doors on the north side of the first entrance to the hospital, two sides of which are connected with the viewing wall, and a door on the west side of the hospital can cross the hospital to the West. There is a wooden screen wall at the entrance of the second entrance, and three main rooms. There are flat top corridors on both sides of the main room, which are connected with the East and West Wing rooms. There is a moon gate on the East and west side of the flat top corridor. There are seven back rooms behind the main room. In the West Cross courtyard, two West rooms are connected into one, with a total of six rooms

Mei Lanfang Memorial Museum has 32421 precious collections, which are mostly donated to Mei Lanfang's relatives, including scripts, books, photos, drama lists, calligraphy and paintings, letters, objects, etc. There are also photos of Mei Lanfang himself and some old artists in casual clothes and costumes over the years, photos of Mei's group photo with famous foreign dramatists, and theater or hall performance lists from the late Qing Dynasty to modern times.
Among the collected calligraphy and paintings are works of song, yuan, Ming, Qing and contemporary calligraphers and painters such as Wu Changshuo, Chen Shizeng, Chen Baochen, Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong and Zhang Daqian. Mei Lanfang also has many paintings in his collection. In addition, there is a huge oil painting "Luoshen" painted by contemporary Indian painting Saint nandabazu for Mei Lanfang, a painting given to Mei by Japanese painter Watanabe chenmu, and a Tuan fan inscribed by Indian poet Tagore

Cultural Activity
On October 28, 1986, people in the theater held a forum to celebrate the opening of Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall in people's theater. Mei Shaowu, deputy director of Mei Lanfang memorial hall, presided over the forum. A three-day commemorative performance was held in Beijing Workers' club. Mei's plays were performed by Mei's successors, Mei's disciples and artists in the drama field
