Fengxian District Museum of Shanghai was built in the 1960s and rebuilt on May 20, 1994. The former site is located at 121 Jiefang East Road, Nanqiao town. On May 16, 2019, the new Fengxian museum was officially put into operation.
The new pavilion is located on the Bank of Shanghai's fish and golden sea lake. The building is designed by Japanese new generation architect shosuke Fujimoto. It is made up of three interconnected and relatively independent units. It has a strong design style. Under the overall green ecological environment of Shanghai's fish, it highlights the beautiful artistic conception of "big pearl and small pearl falling on jade plate" in traditional Chinese culture.
There are two permanent exhibition halls in the new museum: Fengxian historical exhibition hall and Haitang culture hall, and two temporary exhibition halls hold fine exhibitions all year round. There are more than 3000 cultural relics in the collection, including ceramics, calligraphy and painting, statues, bronze and so on. There are more than 200 cultural relics protection sites in Fengxian, including 3 municipal cultural relics protection sites, 32 district cultural relics protection sites and 178 cultural relics protection sites.
Development history
Fengxian museum was built in 1960s.
On May 20, 1994, Fengxian museum was rebuilt. Huang xuanpei, deputy director of Shanghai Museum, Xu Gensheng, former Secretary of Fengxian county Party committee, Xiang Guanfan, sun cuidi, deputy director of Fengxian County, Qian Guanghui, director of Cultural Bureau, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony.
On April 1, 2017, the new Fengxian museum project was officially launched.
On May 16, 2019, the new Fengxian museum will be officially put into operation.
Opening events
At 10 a.m. on May 16, 2019, Fengxian Museum held the opening ceremony of the new museum and the launching ceremony of "Heshuo Qingya Yongzheng Palace Museum Cultural Relics Exhibition".
The ceremony was presided over by Yuan Yuan, deputy head of the district. Wang Xiaohan, deputy secretary of the district Party committee, and Yan Yong, deputy director of the palace Department of the Palace Museum, delivered speeches on the stage. Guo Fang, deputy secretary of the district Party committee and acting head of the District, announced the launch of the activity.
New building
The new Fengxian museum is located on the Bank of Jinhai lake, the fish of Shanghai. It is designed by the Japanese new generation architect shoke Fujimoto. The overall design concept is the organic integration of ecological nature and human history, and the natural transition connection with the surrounding environment.
The new hall covers an area of about 20000 square meters, with a total construction area of 36000 square meters. The main body of the building is composed of three interconnected and relatively independent spaces. The external facade is combined with copper grille and glass curtain wall to make the natural transition connection between the inside and outside of the building. The three elliptical buildings are connected with the public space layer by layer through the public greening and circular passage on the roof, the corridor on the second floor, the landscape water system on the first floor.
Permanent exhibition hall
The permanent exhibition area of Shanghai Fengxian District Museum includes Fengxian history exhibition hall on the second floor of building C and seawall culture hall on the ground floor.
Historical exhibition hall: with an exhibition area of about 1560 square meters, the exhibition is composed of seven sections: preface hall, Fengxian brief history hall, Fengxian Industry hall, Fengye city hall, Fengmin service hall, Fengguo competition hall and Weiting hall. It mainly describes the historical development process of Fengxian, the prosperity of salt, cotton, fishery and other industries, the prosperity of town trade, the virtuous people and the Anti Japanese war.
Haitang Culture Hall: with an exhibition area of about 1320 square meters, the exhibition is composed of five parts: preface hall, Millennium Haitang, Zhutang Anlan, Fengxian Haitang and Weiting hall. The exhibition takes Fengxian Huating east stone pond as the carrier to show the influence of the seawall on the social and economic development of Fengxian and even the whole Shanghai area.
Collection
Fengxian District Museum is a comprehensive museum, focusing on the collection, display and research of Fengxian history and culture. By the end of 2018, there were more than 3000 cultural relics in the collection, covering ceramics, bronzes, calligraphy and painting, statues and other categories. From the Neolithic Age to the present age, there are not only treasures collected and donated by the society, but also local archaeological relics.
Boutique Exhibition
In addition to the two permanent exhibition halls, Fengxian museum also has two temporary exhibition halls which hold exhibitions all year round. After opening to the outside world, the new museum will continuously launch several fine temporary exhibitions, including Yongzheng Palace Museum Cultural Relics Exhibition, Chinese arts and crafts exhibition, International Paper Art Biennale, Chinese ancient bronze mirror seminar and exhibition, etc,
A series of educational activities and interactive experience activities will be launched.
From May 16 to August 16, 2019, "Yongzheng Palace Museum Cultural Relics Exhibition", as the opening temporary exhibition of the new Fengxian Museum, will display more than 120 precious cultural relics collected in the Palace Museum, telling about the emperor's life experience, political measures and the arts and crafts of the Yongzheng Dynasty. Among the precious cultural relics of the Yongzheng period on display are porcelain, jade, calligraphy and painting, enamel, lacquerware, as well as objects used by Emperor Yongzheng and his calligraphy. This exhibition is the first special exhibition of Yongzheng cultural relics in Shanghai, and also the exhibition with the largest number of Yongzheng cultural relics in the Palace Museum so far.
