survey
Historically, Yilu is less than 30 meters wide from east to west, and more than 30 meters long from south to north, covering an area of more than 900 square meters. The houses are grouped by East and West roads side by side, with a fire lane in the middle. The east road is mainly residential, and the west road is mainly garden. There are more than 40 old houses in total. After liberation, Huang Yinxi and Zhu Zhixiang inherited more than 20 old houses. That is, the West Road Garden and residential part were all under public management when the private transformation was carried out in 1956. Up to now, only the south corner garden and the hall, corridor, room and box in the garden, together with the attached rocks, flowers and trees, are well preserved. The rest are demolished or rebuilt for historical reasons or used as open space or passageway.
The original layout in history
In the history of Yilu, the main gate faces east and the entrance faces south. The main house is a regular pattern with three bright rooms, three dark rooms and four dark rooms. The front and back main houses are connected by three entrances and scattered attached houses. Later, with the change of the times, the remaining three rooms and two compartments are in the pattern. Later, all the old houses along this road were demolished.
West Road housing and garden complement each other. Interestingly, its pattern is closely related to the number "three". For example: the front and back main rooms are three rooms, each with three wide faces, the north and south gardens are three, and the South first garden has three corridors. In addition, the large and small patios are set in three directions. Nanshou garden is the most exquisite garden in the whole residence. It is surrounded by three cloisters in the East, South and North, South Flower hall and west moon gate. One side of the small patio in the moon gate, one small suite in the north and one in the south. Small patio stone planting. After the flower hall, there are two opposite rooms on both sides of the small patio in the north. In the patio, there are also flower beds to plant flowers. After that, there is a big garden pattern. Facing south, there are three halls. Then there was a garden with three houses facing east, and a gate in the southeast corner of the garden leading to the front fire lane. The pattern of this road can be described as "gardens are mostly houses".
Architectural features
Throughout the architectural features of Yilu, it can be concluded that the land is economical, delicate, quiet and elegant. Today's ordinary dwellings can be used for reference.
Now the southwest corner of today's Heritage Garden residential example appreciation. The garden is less than 15 meters wide from east to west and less than 20 meters long from north to south, covering an area of about 280 square meters. Its construction is in line with Yangzhou people's saying, no matter in terms of land occupation, house size, frame and decoration materials, it is very "wave skillful". The proportion of halls, halls, rooms, and cabins is equal, and there is no sense of embarrassment. In particular, the space scale of gardens and patios, the volume of rockeries, the ornamentation of flowers and trees, and the focus of celebrities' titles are all just right, which makes people feel comfortable in view and suitable for living. No wonder today's people with cultural taste yearn for a single family and courtyard house.
1. Let's talk about the appearance first: the south end of Yilu faces east to open the small gate, and the polished brick vertical frame veneer is opposite to the small rolling head blue brick horizontal flat blue gray silk seam wall on both sides, which is a simple, generous and stable color. On the other hand, the brick carving of the head sparrow on both ends of the gate is not large enough for the palm. The line carving and relief carving of lotus leaves, lotus flowers, lotus pods, lotus seeds and lotus roots are skillful. On the north side, the bricks are polished to the East, inlaid with six corners, and the two ends of the door are carved with sparrows to make the bricks full of longevity peaches. The image is vivid, and it seems that you are familiar with it. These two groups of brick carvings are attractive to the decoration of simple doors
2. Let's talk about the inner view: entering the gate, there are three sections of the corridor. The width of the corridor is 1.30 meters. A parallel door is set face to face to block the inner view of the garden. However, the corridors on both sides are ethereal, which reflects the feeling of "half covering the face with Pipa". The south end of the corridor turns to the West and faces north. There are three sections of the corridor, and the west end connects with a small door to enter a cabin. The small seal character "Ji Ao" is carved on the alum stone on the forehead of the gate. These two words are from the prose "going back to my hometown" written by Tao Yuanming, a poet of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. Interestingly, a pair of upper and lower windows are opened along the small door to the south of the garden wall, which is also the south window. The lattice bar in the window is ice plum style, and in the middle of the lattice bar are crabapple style and fan-shaped frame scenes respectively. The wood carvings in the frame are "Eight Immortals crossing the sea, showing their magic power". It can be seen that the design and layout of that year is not simple. With the flower hall facing south, there are three corridors facing south. In this way, there are three corridors in the East, South and North, and each corridor has three rooms. It can be said that the number of corridors is nine. In fact, building houses used to mean auspiciousness. Take Yangzhou as an example, that is to say, "order". In addition, the upper end of the corridor is decorated with a horizontal line and Chen guamei. The three sides of the corridor are surrounded by polished brick benches, and the side lines are carved with clear and beautiful hexagonal brocade. The stool seems to be decorative, but it has practical functions. One is that people can sit or put bonsai at will. The other is that it can stabilize the vertical columns in the corridor, killing two birds with one stone.
Yilu garden is not big, less than 60 square meters, patio is also very small, but more than 10 square meters. However, the proportion of stone stacking, stone placing, stone lighting, wood planting and flower planting is appropriate. be just perfect. For example, on both sides of the gate, the opposite snow rock rockery, surrounded by flower beds, planted on low osmanthus. In the southwest corner, there is a stone rockery with a hundred year old claw and a yellow bud. It is vigorous and powerful, and seems to echo with the rock peak. The flower street in the garden is inlaid with pebbles, small bricks, tiles and porcelain pieces with auspicious and interesting patterns such as "two dragons playing with pearls, Qilin sending children, Vientiane renewal and lion dribbling". It adds a lot of luster to this small garden. However, due to no one's concern, many weeds grow. On the other hand, the moon gate of the flower wall in the west of the garden separates the small garden from the small patio in the west, which seems to be transparent and hidden. The moon gate is decorated with polished bricks, on which there is a rolled grass pattern surrounded by polished bricks and carvings. In the middle of the gate, the seal script "liangyixuan" is carved with alunite. Look closely at the book signed by the famous Chen Hanguang. Standing under the moon gate, you can see the garden in the East and the small courtyard in the West. Under the wall, you can see the flower bed surrounded by rocks, the ice crack type pavement and the corresponding chambers in the north and south. It seems that there are "two suitable scenes". It is said that the south facing flower hall was called liangyixuan. Although the size, height, depth and width of this flower hall can't be compared with those of other historical relics in Yangzhou. Even the materials and decoration are delicate, but they are more symmetrical with the overall landscape of the garden. People sitting in the hall, before and after the considerable scene. Because a small patio behind the hall is also equipped with stone plants. For this reason, I think that some people spend millions to buy high-rise houses nowadays, which are not as comfortable as the single door and single courtyard

According to Hua Mengyu, a 90 year old expert in Yangzhou's financial history, Dechun bank is one of the longest established banks in Yangzhou. It was opened in the early years of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty and closed in Guangxu, Xuantong and the 22nd year of the Republic of China. It lasted more than 70 years. After many vicissitudes, it was located in the North East Gate of Yuanda street in the old city. It is a wholly-owned company with Huang Xizhi as its shareholder and Huang Yizhi as its manager. The author suspects that Huang Xizhi is the master of the original garden, Huang zhijunzi. Because they are all ranked by the word "tin".
Yu Jizhi was a famous stone folding craftsman in Yangzhou during the period of the Republic of China. Living in the original fengle xiajie, which is within the scope of today's "Yechun", is also the place of the original "dining villa" in history. Yu Jizhi died in the 1950s after liberation.
