Zhao Gongdi
Zhaogong dyke is one of the three dykes of the West Lake, also known as Xiaoxin dyke. In the second year of song Chunyou (1242), Zhao Yuyi, the magistrate of Lin'an (the tenth grandson of Zhao Kuangyin, the Taizu of Song Dynasty, was a Jinshi in the 13th year of Jiading (1220). He was an official and a minister of the Ministry of officials. He also knew Lin'an for 11 years and had made great achievements). He built a dike from the second bridge of Beixin Road (the former Su dike Dongpu bridge) to Quyuan to connect Lingyin and Tianzhu. The length of the dyke is 250 feet, and "the flowers and willows along the bank are just like the Su dyke".
In the fifth year of the reign of Xianchun (1269), the building increased by five feet and widened to 25 feet. The back dike was abandoned and Jinsha dike was built near it in the Qing Dynasty. After the road was built during the period of the Republic of China, it was difficult to distinguish the intermittent dike. Because the old Quyuan is beside the Hongchun bridge, it can be inferred that the Shagang road is roughly in the direction of the original Zhaogong dike.
