Except for some of the Warring States tombs, it is the remains of the pre Shang Dynasty. In 1974, in order to cooperate with the local farmland capital construction, the cultural relics administration office of Hebei Province and other units excavated the site, with a total of 30 exploration sites, covering an area of 960 square meters. A total of 4 pottery, 104 ash pits, 23 Shang tombs, 6 Warring States tombs, 19 human skeletons and 5 cattle, deer and pig skeletons were unearthed. A total of 304 pieces of pottery, 354 pieces of bone ware, 481 pieces of stone tools, 274 pieces of mussel ware, 34 pieces of horn ware, 124 pieces of divination bone, bronze arrowhead and other cultural relics were unearthed. The xiaqiyuan site is divided into four layers with clear overlapping relationship and obvious features. It provides a reliable stratigraphic basis for the division of Shang culture in Southern Hebei. The main features of the xiaqiyuan site are as follows: a waist partition with sand, an olive shaped pot, a deep belly basin with rolling edge, a flat bottom basin with shallow belly with rope pattern, and a drum belly jar, an arc belly jar, and an egg shaped urn. The above two types of pottery groups basically represent the basic characteristics of xiaqiyuan site, which is called "xiaqiyuan culture" in academic circles and is a typical representative site of Zhanghe type of pre Shang culture. Now it is a key cultural relic protection unit in Hebei Province.
