Details
Motuo County is a mixed area of nationalities, including Luoba, Menba and Tibetan
They wear different clothes, speak different languages, and have different customs, folk songs and dances. The belief of Motuo people is consistent with that of the people in other parts of Tibet. They all believe in Lamaism. There are five temples in the territory, and several more are under repair. However, the way of believing in religion in Motuo has its own characteristics, and zhuanjing building is one of them. Zhuanjing building is usually located on the mountain stream flowing by the roadside, where there are many wooden houses, in which there are continuous rumbling sound and pleasant bell. This is zhuanjing building. It is powered by water. The stream pushes the wooden fan blade, which drives a vertical wooden wheel with a height of about 2 meters and a diameter of about 1 meter. The wooden wheel is covered with all kinds of scriptures and prayer flags, and there is a device for dialing the bronze bell. Every time the wooden wheel rotates, the bronze bell jingles. As a result, there is murmur of water below, jingle of copper bells above, birds singing all over the mountains and fragrant flowers. Motuo people's way of turning scriptures is really poetic and picturesque. Different from other places in Tibet, there are almost no believers in Motuo with long heads and wheels. Only when you see the prayer buildings can you feel the existence of religion. In the eyes of Tibetan people, Motuo is a "Lotus land" for religious pilgrims, also known as "baimagang". In a sense, Motuo exists as a symbol. It's the last County in China that doesn't have roads. It's located in the depth of the world's largest Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon. It's said that don't talk about the road in front of people who have been to Motuo, which means that there is no more difficult road in the world than to go to Motuo. But the beauty of you Motuo lies in the danger of his arrival.
Motuo was called "baimagang" in ancient times, which means "flower" in Tibetan. This is a lotus resort for Tibetan Buddhists. Motuo was not originally the hometown of Menba people. According to historical records and folklore, Menba people began to move eastward nearly 100 or 200 years ago. With courage and yearning for a better life in the East, they came to baimagang from afar. They did not find the legendary paradise, but established villages and settled down in this rich land. There is also a group of Menba people who moved eastward. The word "Menba" refers to menyu, and the Tibetan word "pa" refers to people. The Tibetan word "Menba" means people who live in menyu. According to the latest statistics in 1999, among the more than 9000 people in Motuo County, there are more than 6000 Menba people.
Motuo is rich in biological resources, with more than 3700 species of plants and a large number of animals. It has always been known as "little Xishuangbanna". In the eyes of the Tibetan people, Motuo is the "Lotus land" for religious pilgrims, also known as "baimagang". It is the last County in China that does not have access to roads. So far, all the materials needed here are still carried by people on their shoulders. All the people who come in and out of here need to measure the earth with their bodies and climb mountains with their feet. All the conditions are extremely difficult.
