The Science Park of Harbin Institute of technology is located at No.2 Yikuang street, Nangang District, Harbin. It is connected with the first campus of Harbin Institute of technology.

The origin of Science Park

In 1999, Harbin Institute of technology was listed as one of the nine national key universities (the first batch of 985) jointly built by the national defense science and Technology Commission, the Ministry of education and Heilongjiang Province. In order to support our university to establish a world-class university, the provincial and municipal governments have decided to assign the Harbin Zoo, which is adjacent to Yikuang street and Wenzheng street in the north, Hexing road in the south, Miaopu street in the west, wangzhaoxin village residential area in the East, and covers an area of 35.96 hectares to our university. It is planned to be a new science park with a total construction area of 150000 square meters and a reasonable layout. After a period of heated debate and repeated argument, the relocation plan of the zoo was finally finalized, and the animals in the zoo moved one after another. Under the close attention of the public and all the teachers, students and staff, the Science Park began to plan and construct.

Since the first phase project of Science Park was officially launched on September 1, 2002, with the cooperation of all aspects, the construction project has made rapid progress. All the first phase main projects with a building area of 50000 square meters were successfully completed in October 2003, and some research institutes and Laboratories began to enter the science Park for equipment installation. At the same time, the second phase of the science park with a construction area of 100000 square meters entered the preparatory stage in August 2003, started construction on April 1, 2004, and all the projects were delivered to use on July 30, 2005.

Current situation of Science Park

At present, there are 10 national key scientific research projects in the Science Park, including the first phase project, composite material research institute, space optics research center, micro nano Research Center, Satellite Technology Research Institute, Special Ceramics Research Institute, low temperature and superconducting technology research institute, Robotics Research Institute, ultra precision optoelectronic Instrument Engineering Research Institute, control and Simulation Research Center and space control and inertial technology research center Research base: optoelectronics Institute, tunable laser laboratory, measurement and Control Technology Research Institute, Microelectronics Research Institute, communication technology research institute, Microwave Technology Research Institute, deep space exploration research institute, electric vehicle research institute, space debris hypervelocity impact research center, target simulation and optics laboratory, Life Science Research Institute, digital manufacturing and control technology research center, Institute of condensed matter science and technology, School of management MPa (MBA) Education Center, School of international business relations, International Conference Center and other scientific research institutions.

The science park also has Space Museum of Harbin Institute of technology, Nanyuan restaurant and student apartment (A17 apartment).
