Baozhuang, also known as Suilu, is located at No. 94, Beishan Road, Xihu District. It is a well preserved mountain garden villa.

From Beishan Road along the mountain road to Baozhuang, the first thing you see is an exquisitely carved brick decorated gate tower, which has an extraordinary momentum. The word "Suilu" is written on the lintel and is signed by Zhao Meixi. Entering the gate tower, there is an ancient camphor, more than 300 years old. In the shade of the trees, a two-story three Bay Western-style villa stands out. The building has nine rooms, 225.95 square meters, including brick and stone base, ceiling, bottle balustrade and sky ladder, and five and a half bungalows, 134.5 square meters. Out of the courtyard, we continue to follow the mountain paved with huge stone slabs. It is the backyard of Baozhuang. There is a ancestral hall, a tomb and two stone pavilions. Both of them are built on the mountain. The whole Baozhuang covers an area of 2.019 mu. It was built in 1922 and has a history of 80 years. Bao Bolin, the former owner of Bao Zhuang, was born in Guangdong. He engaged in various industries in Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou, and had a very rich family background. The Suilu built by him has the charm of Lingnan, his hometown. It has three characteristics: first, the buildings are mostly made of green bricks, terrazzo, stone strips and slabs to prevent moisture; second, the layout of gardens and fish ponds are designed according to Lingnan style; third, the houses, temples and tombs are integrated with Yin and Yang, all in the courtyard. In particular, the Square Pavilion and octagonal pavilion in the courtyard are all built with stones, stone strips, stone slabs and stone tiles, without brick wood and iron, which is rare in the private gardens of West Lake. Therefore, the feeling of Baozhuang is that there is a path inside the door, and the path is curved; there is a wall outside the flowers, and the wall is low; there is a pavilion on the stone surface, and the pavilion is simple; there is a garden in the corner, and the garden is wide; there is a room behind the bamboo, and the room is secluded. Standing in Baozhuang, facing the south from the north and facing the lake from the mountain, it has a good view of "thousands of valleys and trees, thousands of cliffs and high air in autumn". It can be called a rare private garden in the world on the north line of West Lake.
