Detailed introduction
The former site of the Italian embassy is located at No.1 taijichang street, which is well preserved and is now used by the Chinese people's Association for friendship with foreign countries. The original Italian embassy was located in the north of Dongkou Road, dongjiaomin Lane in 1869, far away from other foreign embassies. With the rise of the Boxer Movement, the Italian Embassy bore the brunt and was conquered earlier. Later, Italy moved its embassy to the current position of the Austrian Embassy in the East and the British Embassy in the West.
On both sides of the gate of the Italian Embassy are square single-layer symmetrical gatehouses with four slopes. On the outside of the two pillars of the original doorway, there is also a classical door wall with brick outlet angle and rolled grass brick carving. The three buildings in the courtyard have different styles. One of them has H-shaped layout, simple walls, no carving, rectangular windows, flat roof and simple eaves. The other has Ionian column veranda on the facade, small window on both sides of the wall, three rectangular doors in the lower middle and three semicircular windows on the upper floor. From a distance, it looks like three arched doors. The idea is quite ingenious The structure has two floors above the ground. In the middle and lower floors, there are three continuous arcade porches protruding from the main line of the building. The upper part of the arcade is decorated with curly grass patterns made by bending metal rods, which is extremely rich.
The upper layer of the veranda is suitable for a two-story balcony with parapet. The wall line is simple, with white stone as the corner stone. The method of protruding the surface of the door and window covers is the same as that of the main building of Zhengjin bank. The decoration of the internal columns, caisson, doors and windows, chandeliers, stairs, etc. are very rich and exquisite.
