Yongding tower is located on the Bank of Yongding River in the west of Beijing, with a height of 69.7 meters and a concrete frame supplemented by a wooden structure. Officially started in August 2011, it is an octagonal nine story structure, which is the landmark theme building of Beijing Garden Expo. It is located on Yingshan mountain, with a construction area of about 8000 square meters. Its appearance is a nine story octagonal wooden tower in the style of Liao and Jin Dynasties. After completion, visitors can climb to the top of the tower to have a panoramic view of the Expo. At the end of the 9th China (Beijing) International Garden Expo, it will be the Yongdinghe historical and cultural museum. At about 14:45 p.m. on April 8, 2013, Yongding tower (9 floors under construction and above ground) caught fire. By 19:15 p.m., the fire had been put out. There were no casualties at the scene.
