geographical position
Xinghua hutong is located in Xicheng District of Beijing. To the south is Di'anmen West Street, which is now Ping'an Street. To the south of this street is Beihai. Therefore, Xinghua Hutong can be said to be the "root of Beihuang city". To the north of the hutong is Dingfu street. To the north of Dingfu street is yiluer palace. To the East is Gongwang palace. To the middle is Furen University, which used to be taobaile palace. To the west is QingWang palace. Xinghua hutong is sandwiched between the imperial city and the palace.
Xinghua Hu is east-west, which is a long lane in Beijing. A Lane called jingyongli divides it into two parts. The east entrance of Xinghua hutong is connected with longtoujing Hutong, forming a T-shaped intersection. It needs to go up a little bit from longtoujing. Hutongs are numbered from the east entrance, odd in the north and even in the south.
Characteristics of Hutong
Sony Mansion
The residence of Prince Shijue is called mansion, and the residence of other officials is called mansion. Sony was first granted the title of first-class uncle and then the title of first-class official. His residence is located in Xinghua Hutong. Eight year old Xuanye succeeded to the throne, that is, Emperor Kangxi in the history of the Qing Dynasty. His father, Emperor Shunzhi, set up a posthumous photo and ordered Sony and other four ministers to assist the young Kangxi to govern the country. After a few years, the thoughtful empress dowager of Xiaozhuang, in order to prevent the four auxiliary ministers from monopolizing the imperial power, deliberately wooed Sony, and chose Sony's granddaughter hesheri as Kangxi's Queen. Sony became the abbot of the imperial court. At that time, the courtyards in the north of the east section of Xinghua Hutong were owned by Sony, which can be said to be very prominent. Later, the Sony family also flourished in Xinghua Hutong for more than 200 years. It was not until the period of the Republic of China that the descendants of the government gambled heavily with others and lost their real estate. It is really sad. Today's Shichahai red sandalwood culture theme hotel is once a part of the government.
Former residence of Chen Yuan
Chen Heng, a famous historian and educator, lived in No. 13 (formerly No. 5) of Xinghua Hutong. Chen Heng has made great achievements in Yuan history, religious history, textual research and collation. Chen Heng loves education very much and has been teaching in university scientific research institutions for decades. During the period of Japanese invasion of China, Chen Heng was the president of Furen University. He was full of national integrity, refused to use Japanese textbooks, refused to fly the Japanese flag, and did not take Japanese as a compulsory course, which stimulated the patriotic morale and feelings of teachers and students.
Chen Heng has lived in Xinghua Hutong since 1939. This courtyard is a relatively standard courtyard with two entrances. Chen Heng is fond of reading and collecting books. He named his study "Liyun bookstore" because of his father's name "Liyun". In his childhood, Chen Heng encouraged him to study hard in memory of his father.
Chen Heng said that the west chamber was built as a library. He stacked the back of his bookcase, leaving only the middle aisle. There were eight aisles, which Chen Heng jokingly called "Hutong". He will register books, as long as the search of the book in which "alley", it is very convenient.
It is adjacent to Shichahai in the East, not far from Jiaxing temple in the west, and opposite the southbound road is Beihai back door. It faces south, grey brick and grey tile. There are four stone steps in front of the gate. The paint on the two gates is mottled, but the couplet on both sides is still clear and readable. There was a pair of stone lions in front of the door. Entering the gate, the screen wall stands face to face. To the left, walk into the front yard of the two courtyards. The front yard is not big, about 67 meters long and about 167 meters wide. The south room is a suite, which is relatively spacious. When the original owner was alive, it was the place where he met his guests. The west wing is where the kitchen and the nanny live. The old nurse sometimes raises a few chickens in this small yard, which adds a little vitality to the yard. Outside the house, there are two decades old Begonia trees, blooming in spring and red fruits in autumn. Through the vertical gate, you enter the backyard. It's two or three times bigger than the front yard. There are three East and three West Wing rooms. The East chamber is the guest room where relatives and friends come. The west chamber is the master's Library and the scribe's workshop. His collection of more than 40000 books, most of which are thread bound books, are neatly stacked on the bookcase, while the bookcase is placed on the bookshelf, row after row. Because there are too many books, the space between the two rows of bookshelves is very narrow, which is called "Hutong" by the owner. He is very familiar with the location of his book collection. Sometimes when he wants to check a book, he will ask his assistant to go to the Hutong, the rack and the box to get it. He has never made any mistakes. There are five rooms in the north, the master's bedroom and bathroom in the west, and the assistant's studio in the East. The main hall in the middle is the master's studio and sometimes serves as a place to meet guests. In the room, the ink of famous scholars of Qing Dynasty collected by the owner is often hung in turn, and a plaque is hung high. In the room, the inscription is the famous patriot Yinghua (Zi Lianzhi), and the four big characters on the plaque are "Liyun bookstore". From the 1930s to the 1970s, Chen Yuan, the owner of Liyun bookstore, lived here.
No.1 Hutong
Xinghua Hutong No.1 is a grain store. It has two opposite glass doors. One door is empty. To the East, there are wooden rice trough and noodle trough, about half a person high. There are four in total. The first one is good Jimi (15 Fen 7 / Jin), the second one is second Jimi (11 Fen 3 / Jin), the third one is noodle, and the fourth one is stick noodle. It's easy to connect The store is divided into two parts: the inside and the outside. In addition to the mountain like bags of grain, there are two or three wooden troughs for good rice, beans and millet. The wooden trough in front is equivalent to a counter. There is a huge iron funnel in front of each trough. Customers bring their own pockets and put them under the funnel to wait. There is a scale on the second slot and the third slot respectively. The scale is on the top of the iron funnel. After the salesman at the counter asks how many jin of grain you want, he will pick up a deep iron dustpan, pick up the grain in the wooden slot and put it on the scale. Then he will use a small aluminum dustpan with handle to find the weight. The surplus will be thrown back into the slot with the small aluminum dustpan, and the iron dustpan will be put on the scale Turn up in one direction, the dustpan is aimed at the iron funnel, and then pour down in order, and the grain goes into the funnel. If you buy rice, you will hear the sound of "Hua La"; if you buy noodles, you will hear the sound of "Pu", and a lot of foggy flour will rise in the funnel and fly into the air, and then the bag in the customer's hand suddenly has weight. A series of skillful and unrestrained actions of the salesmen made me very envious. I always thought when I could be "unrestrained" once, so I always tried my best to please the salesmen. But at that time, the salesmen were all "saibaogong", and they were all selfless, so I didn't realize this wish. The iron funnel is fixed on the wooden trough with a hinge. If there is still a little grain (mainly flour) left in the funnel, the customer will bump the iron funnel twice by himself. The funnel and the wooden trough collide and make a "bang" sound, and the funnel becomes clean.
