Construction history
On March 18, 1926, Duan Qirui's government made a bloody incident of shooting and killing petitioners in Beijing. On March 18, 1926, about 5000 people from more than 80 schools and more than 60 groups, including the Northern District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Beijing prefectural committee of the Communist Youth League, the Beijing prefectural committee, the Beijing special municipal Party headquarters of the Kuomintang, the Beijing Federation of trade unions, the Beijing students' Federation, the Beijing anti imperialist League, and the Guangzhou delegation, held the "National Congress against the ultimatum of the eight states" in Tiananmen to protest against the Japanese imperialist army The crimes of invading Dagukou, shelling the national army and the eight countries such as the United States, Britain, Japan, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and the West giving China an unreasonable ultimatum. In order to hold this conference, the Northern District Committee of the Communist Party of China made arrangements in advance. In the early morning of the same day, under the leadership of Li Dazhao, the CPC Northern District Committee held an emergency meeting to check the preparations. Zhao Shiyan, Chen qiaonian, Secretary of the Communist Youth League Northern District Committee Xiao Zizhang, and Secretary of the CPC Beijing prefectural committee Liu Bozhuang respectively reported on the organization and mobilization of the masses, drew up slogans and slogans, and the route of the parade. Starting from 10 am, Xu Qian, chairman of the general assembly, first reported the agenda of the meeting, exposing the crimes of imperialist aggression and the atrocities of Duan Qirui's government against the petitioners on the 17th. It was decided that the whole country should oppose the ultimatum of the eight countries, expel the ministers of the eight countries, abolish all unequal treaties, withdraw foreign warships, and telegraph the national army to fight against imperialist aggression. After the meeting, the masses filed a petition to Duan Qirui's government, demanding that Duan's government immediately refute the eight nation ultimatum. When the team came to Duan Qirui's government gate in tieshizi Hutong, the military and police in advance shot, killing 47 people and injuring more than 200 people, creating the "March 18th" massacre that shocked China and foreign countries. Li Dazhao, Chen qiaonian, Zhao Shiyan and other members of the CPC Northern District Committee personally participated in the struggle. Li Dazhao, Chen qiaonian and others were injured because of covering the masses. After the tragedy, schools in Beijing suspended classes and held a memorial service for the martyrs. On the 23rd, a city wide memorial meeting was held in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Peking University under the chairmanship of Chen Yi. Lu Xun called March 18 "the darkest day since the Republic of China". Since then, the reactionary rule in Beijing has become more rampant, Li Dazhao and others have been wanted, and the party's activities have become more difficult.
