Meng Xiaodong's former residence is located in the east entrance of No.8 dongsijiaozi Hutong, Dongcheng District, Beijing. It is a West style courtyard house of the 20th century junior middle school.

The plane is "L" shaped, with brick and wood structure. The north room is five rooms wide and three rooms deep. It has a four slope roof, covered with tiles, fair faced grey brick walls, and corridors connecting all rooms. The four rooms in the west room are connected with the north room as a whole. One of them is a door with five steps under the door, and the entrance is a corridor. The south end of the house protrudes to the East for half a room, the corner of the wall is plastered, and the top is of the cusp type. The room of the building is tall, the indoor floor is 0.8 meters higher than the outdoor floor, and there are air holes under it. It is understood that the house was originally the property of Du Yuesheng, where Meng Xiaodong, a famous Peking Opera actor, once lived.

Meng Xiaodong (1907-1977), female, Han nationality, born in Wanping, Peking, was born in Shanghai in 1907. She is a famous female veteran actor in Peking Opera and is known as the "winter emperor". Ruolan, whose real name is Linghui and stage name is Xiaodong, was born in Wanping, Beijing (also known as Shandong). Her grandfather Meng Qi (a famous Hongjing actress in the Tongguang period of the Qing Dynasty) and her father, uncle and uncle were all Peking Opera actors. She studied art at the age of 5 and went on stage at the age of 7. She successively studied Xusheng and sun Juxian from her uncle Qiu Yuexiang and Tan Xinpei's zither player Sun zuochen. At the age of 12, he officially performed in Wuxi. At the age of 14, he performed with Qiu in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jinan, Hankou, Fujian and the Philippines. He married Mei Lanfang in 1927 and divorced in 1931. Yu Shuyan was a teacher in 1938 and died in 1943. In the spring of 1949, he left Shanghai to settle down in Hong Kong. In 1950, he married Du Yuesheng. After Du died of illness, he taught apprenticeship in Hong Kong. He moved to Taipei in 1967 and died in 1977.
