The Museum of Renmin University of China is to strengthen discipline construction, promote personnel training, expand the school's social influence in the field of culture, promote the school's foreign exchange and cooperation, and enhance the awareness of teachers, students and staff to love and honor the school. In 2003, the school decided to build the Museum of Renmin University of China while planning the construction of history discipline. In 2004, Renmin University of China (Renmin University of China) established "Archaeology and Museology" and "Institute of northern ethnic Archaeology of Renmin University of China" in the Department of history, College of humanities according to its own discipline advantages and construction needs, and started the preparatory work for the Museum of Renmin University of China.
The Museum of Renmin University of China started its preparations in 2004. Based on the exhibition of cultural relics of northern nationalities and the exhibition of school history, it was officially established in 2008 and officially registered in 2009 with the approval of Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics. The Museum of Renmin University of China is a comprehensive and high-level university museum. There are three museum sites in Beijing: the Museum of Renmin University of China (Zhongguancun campus), the Museum of Zhangzizhong road old campus and the Museum of Renmin University of China (Tongzhou campus) (under construction). Outside Beijing, there are two branch museums: the memorial hall of the former site of Shanbei public school in Yan'an, Shaanxi Province, and the exhibition hall of the former site of North China University in Zhengding, Hebei Province.
Development history
Renmin University of China is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university focusing on Humanities and social sciences. It is directly under the Ministry of education and jointly built by the Ministry of education and Beijing Municipality. Its predecessor is Shanbei public school, which was born in 1937 in the war of resistance against Japan, and later North China United University and North China University. On December 16, 1949, according to the proposal of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the 11th Government Affairs Council of the Central People's government adopted the decision on the establishment of Renmin University of China. On October 3, 1950, Renmin University of China, which was established on the basis of North China University, held a grand opening ceremony, becoming the first new regular university founded in New China. Famous educators Wu Yuzhang, Cheng Fangwu, Yuan Baohua, Huang Da and Li Wenhai successively served as principals. The current president is Professor Ji Baocheng and the Secretary of the Party committee is Professor Cheng Tianquan.

Renmin University holds that "the opening of Archaeology and Museology", "a strong faculty" and "a University Museum" The "fixed collection quantity" constitutes the basic material basis for the establishment of a museum. At the same time, he also pointed out that "collections are the foundation of museums", proposed to "strengthen the collection of cultural relics", and promised "our bureau will give full cooperation and full support". After receiving the reply, the school immediately started the staff deployment, site selection, cultural relics collection and other work of the museum.
From 2004 to 2005, Renmin University of China invested nearly 1 million yuan in the collection of cultural relics, and went to Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Henan, Shandong and other places to collect and allocate cultural relics. With the coordination of relevant departments of the school and the support of local brother units, the collection of cultural relics has been enriched and greatly improved in quantity and quality. The number of collections has increased from 262 in the original history department to more than 5700. The collection covers all historical periods from the Paleolithic age to modern China, and there are many fine cultural relics, which provides an important cultural relic guarantee for the preparation of the museum.
With the strong support of Inner Mongolia Museum and other brother units, the Museum of Renmin University of China selected more than 200 pieces of cultural relics and organized the exhibition of "spring and Autumn period of northern China". On October 29, 2007, the exhibition was successfully launched on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Renmin University of China. Archaeologists and historians from the Palace Museum, Inner Mongolia Museum, Beijing Municipal Bureau of culture, Peking University and Tsinghua University, as well as leaders, teachers and students of Renmin University of China attended the ceremony. Vice President Feng Huiling cut the ribbon for the exhibition and delivered a speech. The holding of this exhibition is an important measure for Renmin University of China to vigorously promote the discipline infrastructure construction, adding a heavy stroke to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Renmin University of China.
On the basis of the successful holding of the northern cultural relics exhibition and the increasingly rich collection, in July 2008, the school (2007-2008 academic year documents) officially established the Museum of Renmin University of China, which has a team and two brands with the archives. On November 6, the leading group of the museum was appointed: President Ji Baocheng was the honorary curator of the museum, vice president Feng Huiling was also the curator of the museum, and LV Xiaoming, pan Ping and Wei Jian were the Deputy curators. It has five departments: Exhibition Department, collection department, publicity and education department, security department and research room.
On December 18, 2008, Renmin University of China submitted a "request for instructions on the establishment of the Museum of Renmin University of China" to Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics, applying to become a registered unit of Beijing Museum. On March 13, 2009, a museum registration and acceptance team composed of Li Xuejun, head of Museum Department of Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics, Li Yang, secretary, Zhang Chunxiang, Du Yaoxi, Cui Xuetong, Zheng Guangrong, mafala and other experts inspected the Museum of Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics. After careful inspection and listening to the introduction, the expert group spoke highly of the progress made by the museum in a few years, the existing display, the value of a number of important cultural relics and the future planning. The experts also put forward reasonable suggestions on the theme orientation, renovation and opening of the museum, and wrote evaluation opinions for the registration of the museum. On March 24, 2009, the office meeting of the director general of Beijing Municipal Bureau of cultural relics approved the establishment of the Museum of Renmin University of China, which is located in Renmin University of China and belongs to the nature of a public museum.
In April 2009, at the beginning of the new year, the first academic achievement of the Museum of Renmin University of China, the spring and Autumn period of the Northern Kingdom - the exhibition Atlas of cultural relics in the Museum of Renmin University of China (edited by Wei Jian and published by Renmin University of China Press), was published. Professor Ji Baocheng, President of Renmin University of China and honorary curator of Renmin University Museum of China, wrote a preface to the catalogue and inscribed "determined to build a good museum" on the title page, which showed that the leaders of the University attached great importance to and strongly supported the construction of the museum. The book selects more than 200 fine works from more than 5000 pieces of cultural relics in the Museum of the University, which basically reflects the level of cultural relics in the Museum of the University. It is an important achievement of Renmin University of China in strengthening the discipline strength, enriching the image of the University, and promoting the construction of humanistic education and service culture.
In the spring of 2013, he moved to a new location, which is located in the middle teaching area of the campus (the former West Library). Taking the construction of the first-class Museum in the national university system and the characteristic Museum in the national cultural and museum system as the development direction, it is an important part of the reform roadmap of the university personnel training system, as well as an important part of the construction of campus culture and foreign exchange.
