Guo Moruo Memorial
Guo Moruo Memorial Museum, located at No.18 Qianhai West Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, was officially opened to the public in June 1988 under the name of Guo Moruo's former residence. In 1994, it was renamed Guo Moruo Memorial Museum, affiliated to the Chinese Academy of social sciences

Guo Moruo Memorial Hall covers an area of 7000 square meters, with a construction area of 2500 square meters. The gate faces east and West. It is the horse name of Prince Gong's mansion in the Qing Dynasty

In January 1988, Guo Moruo's former residence was listed as the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of China
In 1992, Guo Moruo memorial hall was named "Beijing patriotism education base"

Historical evolution
In the early years of the Republic of China, ledarentang purchased a real estate located at No.8 Xiheyan, Xicheng District, Beijing (now No.18 Qianhai West Street, Xicheng District, Beijing) and built a courtyard.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the property was changed into the residence of the Embassy of the people's Republic of Mongolia in China, and later lived by Comrade Song Qingling.
In 1963, Guo Moruo moved from No. 5, xisidayuan Hutong, Xicheng District, Beijing.
In 1979, the publishing Committee of Guo Moruo's works moved there, and then formed a "preparatory group for Guo Moruo's Memorial".
In February 1982, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee decided to name the place where Guo Moruo lived in his later years as "Guo Moruo's former residence". In September of the same year, Deng Yingchao, Cheng Fangwu and Li Yimeng inscribed plaques for Guo Moruo's former residence respectively

On November 16, 1982, the naming ceremony of Guo Moruo's former residence was held.
On February 17, 1983, Guo Moruo's former residence officially belonged to the Chinese Academy of social sciences

In April 1988, Guo Moruo's family moved out of their former residence, and the renovation project began
. On June 12, Guo Moruo's former residence was officially opened to the public. A full-length bronze statue of Guo Moruo, jointly built by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the national sculpture planning team, was completed on the lawn of Guo Moruo's former residence.
In 1994, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences decided to change the name of "Guo Moruo's former residence" to "Guo Moruo Memorial".
In 1999, Guo Moruo memorial hall was fully repaired, and the heating system was converted from coal to natural gas

In May 2000, Guo Moruo Memorial Hall reopened after a year of maintenance, and the exhibition content was supplemented and adjusted
.
In February 2001, the patriotic education activity room of Guo Moruo memorial hall was opened to the public. On February 24 of the same year, the "new century" propaganda group of the school of continuing education of Beijing Normal University was set up in Guo Moruo Memorial Hall. Members of the propaganda group are required to explain the memorial hall from time to time. In March of the same year, the website of Guo Moruo memorial was opened.
On April 15, 2003, Guo Moruo Memorial Hall completed the renovation of 900 square meters lawn

Architectural pattern

Guo Moruo memorial hall is a courtyard style quadrangle with a floor area of more than 7000 square meters and a building area of 2500 square meters. The gate faces east and West. There are eight exhibition rooms with a total exhibition area of about 400 square meters
.
The East and West Wing rooms and the rooms on both sides of the back room of Guo Moruo memorial hall have been used as secretary's office and Guo Moruo's family's houses respectively. They have been set up as exhibition hall 1 (East Room), exhibition hall 2 (west room), original exhibition room (living room, office, bedroom, mother's room) and exhibition hall 3 and 4 (East and West back room)

Exhibition hall 1 (East Wing room)
The exhibition hall shows Guo Moruo's youth (1892-1913), ten years of creation (1914-1925) and Northern Expedition (1926-1928)

Exhibition hall 2 (West Wing room)
The exhibition hall shows Guo Moruo's ten years of exile (1928-1937), the flood of resistance against Japan (1937-1945) and welcoming the new China (1945-1949)

This part is divided into four exhibition halls, retaining the original appearance of Guo Moruo and Yu Liqun

Living room (main room 1)
The sofa in the living room is horseshoe shaped, and the single sofa in front of the piano is the seat Guo Moruo used to when he received foreign friends. Because his ears are hard to hear, the hearing aid can only be worn on some functional left ear, so the guest of honor sits on his left hand. On the back of the sofa is Fu Baoshi's poetry of traveling in Jiulongyuan, written by Guo Moruo. Under this Zhang Er landscape painting, Guo Moruo displays a row of stones he likes

Office (main room 2)
To the east of the living room is Guo Moruo's office. A row of bookcases are lined up against the west wall. On the top of the bookcase is Mao Zedong's authentic work "xijiangyue Jinggangshan". Opposite is his wife Yu Liqun's Lishu Zhongtang, which records Mao Zedong's poem Qinyuan spring · snow. Under the window near the Begonia tree, there are two desks facing each other. Guo Moruo often uses the one in the East

Bedroom (main room 3)
To the east of the office is the bedroom. Next to a brown bandage bed and a green checked sheet is a BNP's twenty four histories

Mom's house (in the middle of the back room)
Mother's room is Mrs. Guo Moruo's writing room in Liqun. Their calligraphy works are reflected on the three walls. On the left is Yu Liqun's Xiaozhuan tiaoping "Qinyuan spring · snow"; on the right is Guo Moruo's inscription and postscript of bronze rubbings cooperated with his wife; on the front is Guo Moruo's running grass "chanting Wu Zetian"

Exhibition hall 3 and 4 (East and West back room)
The exhibition hall displays the new chapter of culture, the messenger of peace, the constant writing (1949-1978), Guo Moruo's translated bibliography and the audience interaction area

In April 1989, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the May 4th movement, a symposium on Guo Moruo and the spirit of the May 4th Movement was held in Guo Moruo Memorial Hall
