Development history
Fahai cave, also known as Peigong cave, is located on the cliff below the western side of Jinshan tower. It is said that it is the place where Fahai monk peitoutuo practiced hard. It is said that Fahai was the son of Pei Xiu, the Prime Minister of the Tang Dynasty. Pei Xiu believed in Buddhism, so he sent his son to become a monk and named him Fahai. He respected his father's will and was determined to yearn for Buddhism. He first studied Buddhism in Lushan, Jiangxi Province, and then went down the river from Lushan to Jinshan, Zhenjiang. At that time, the temples on the mountain were deserted, the thorns were overgrown, and the boa constrictors were harmed. Later, he defeated a white Python in the cave. After driving the python into the sea, he lived in the cave. Fahai practiced hard here, started farming and worked hard to build Jinshan Temple. Fahai is the founder of Jinshan Temple and has made great contributions to the establishment of Jinshan Temple. However, in the myth of "water overflowing Jinshan Temple" in the legend of the White Snake, Fahai is said to be the culprit of hindering the destruction of a young man and woman's free love and happy marriage, which is deeply condemned by the world. Of course, history has its own comments. As Zhang Shangying of the Song Dynasty said in his poem, "half a stone room is a place of meditation, and it is not easy to gain fame in the dynasty. The white Python turned into a dragon and returned to the sea, leaving the old man Tuo in the rock. " The monk made the poem into couplets and hung it on both sides of the cave to show his heart. At the same time, there is a statue of Fahai in the cave to commemorate.
