Ding Cong comic Gallery

Built in June 2003, Ding Cong comic Gallery has seven halls and two rooms, namely "preface hall", "life introduction hall", "satire and humor hall", "ancient and modern interesting collection hall", "illustration Hall of famous works", "portrait hall" and his father's "Ding Shuo works hall", as well as "video reference room" and "souvenir sales room". The exhibition hall is decorated with Ding Cong's life, and each exhibition room displays Ding Cong's satirical and humorous works, illustrations of masterpieces and portraits, which contain more than 120 representative works of each period.

Ding Cong comic Gallery

It is located at 421 Guzhen North Street, Fengjing town, Jinshan District, Shanghai. There is a foreword hall, seven exhibition rooms (one of which displays Ding's works) and a VIP lounge. With a total area of 360 square meters, more than 100 works are exhibited.

The reason of building the Museum

Ding Cong, a cartoonist, was born in 1916. At the age of 14, his father brought him to Fengjing town in Shanghai to search for his ancestors' roots and visit their graves. In 2002, at the invitation of Jilin TV station, I shot the feature film home. When I came back to my hometown, I was very happy to see the great changes in Fengjing. He readily agreed to display his comics in his hometown Museum.

After one year's preparation, Ding Cong's comic exhibition hall, whose name was inscribed by Huang Miaozi, a Chinese art historian, critic and famous calligrapher, was built and opened in Fengjing.

Layout of comic Gallery

From the North Street to the exhibition hall, you have to walk through a quiet stone lane. Enter the gate, ancient ginkgo and crape myrtle, banana, osmanthus, Chimonanthus and other flowers and trees to decorate the courtyard very fresh and elegant. The main building of the exhibition hall is a five bay, two-story building built in the period of the Republic of China, with corridors above and below. There is a bust of Ding Cong and his life in the preface hall. Subsequently, Ding Cong's satirical and humorous works, illustrations of masterpieces and portraits are displayed in each exhibition room. Ding Cong began to publish cartoon works since 1930s. He satirized the reactionary rule of the old society and the decadent social life. He praised the prosperous scene and the people's working life since the founding of new China. At the same time, he criticized some backward phenomena mercilessly. His works showed his justice and kindness everywhere I know.

Exhibition introduction

In the exhibition room of portrait of characters, celebrities such as Shen Congwen, Qin Yi, Xiao Qian, Ba Jin, Bing Xin, Fang Cheng, Feng Jicai, Xin Fengxia, Lao She, Lu Xun, Mao Dun, Huang Miaozi, Qian Zhongshu, Nie Gannu, Xia Yan, Wang Meng, etc. are vividly displayed in the form of comics. From these works, we can see Ding Cong's extensive contacts in the Chinese cultural and artistic circles. He has a deep friendship with many well-known figures in Chinese literary and art circles. In the exhibition room of illustrations of famous works, we can see that he has painted illustrations for Lu Xun, Lao She, Ye Shengtao, Shen Congwen, Xu Dishan and other famous works. When Mao Dun met Ding Cong again in June 1980, he couldn't help writing down a poem "five unique skills": "I'll never see Xiao Ding for a long time. I'll meet you twice as often as I do. The child's face is still the same as before He not only wrote the friendship between them, but also highly praised Ding Cong's works and personality. The handwriting of this poem is also displayed in the exhibition hall. There is also a video room in the exhibition hall, displaying some articles he used in his creation and life. Ding Cong named them "Xiaoding objects". On the wall are the portraits of Mei Lanfang, Xun Huisheng, Ma Lianliang, Gai jiaotian, Zhou Xinfang, Hou Xirui, Li Shaochun and Xiao Changhua, who were well-known figures in Peking Opera circles during his labor in the Ming Tombs reservoir. Ding Cong's self portrait, his son, grandson and other caricatures are also on display here.
