At the mouth of Xiling Gorge on the Yangtze River, 17 kilometers away from Xiaoxi tower in Yichang County, Hubei Province, there is an art labyrinth, the Golden Lion cave. According to the research of the experts from the Sino French cave investigation team, the cave is a limestone cave with a history of about 1 million years ago. History of scenic spots

From Xiangxikou in the west to nanjinguan in the East, it is famous for its zigzag waterway, numerous strange rocks, many beaches, fast water and dangerous boating. Qu Yuan, Zhaojun, Lu Yu, Bai Juyi, Yuan Zhen, Ouyang Xiu, Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe, Kou Zhun, Lu You, Feng Yuxiang and many other historical celebrities have left famous poems here.

According to the county annals, Bai Qingyun, the first magistrate of Shangnan county and the former commander of the new Fifth Division of the Kuomintang, once led a regiment to stay in this cave for several months.

Only the development part is 1853m deep, 48m wide at the widest part and 56m high at the highest part, with a total space of 200000 cubic meters. In the middle of the cave, there is a lion shaped stalagmite 2 meters high, on which the golden light is shining, just like a golden lion roaring with its head held high. Although the cave is small in scale, it has its own unique scenery and beautiful water scenery. The cave sediments make the nearly 300 meters water tunnel a vast water scenery. Many dripping sediments, underwater sediments and flowing sediments and their combination are integrated with the water scenery and cave scenery. There are many and dense scenic spots, which constitute a rare cave art palace.
