Yakesha mountain, also known as changban mountain and matangliangzi, is 4800 meters above sea level. It is towering with clouds and sky. The mountain is steep and ravines crisscross. It is covered with snow all the year round and the climate is changeable. This is the third big snow mountain that the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army climbed continuously during the long march. It is also the big snow mountain that the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army climbed the most times. Many officers and soldiers gave their young lives here, and their iron bones were left on the snow mountain.
In 1952, the 137th regiment of the light cavalry division of the western front of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, which was ordered to suppress bandits in Heishui, entered Yakou. Twelve red army remains were found in a neat arrangement near the camp. They were collected, tombs were built, and wreaths were laid. A solemn and simple memorial ceremony was held. The soldiers solemnly vowed in front of the martyrs' graves that they would never stop fighting against the rebels and liberate the people of all ethnic groups in Heishui. In 1982, the relevant departments allocated funds for the reconstruction by the people's Government of Hongyuan county. The tombs of the Red Army martyrs in yakesha mountain are the tombs of the Red Army martyrs with the highest altitude in China.
On May 25, 2006, the tombs of the Red Army martyrs, as part of the remains of the Red Army's long march in Aba, were announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
