Chiwan left Fort generally refers to the left Fort
Left Fort, also known as Chiwan left Fort, Shenzhen left Fort. Located in Yingzuishan, Chiwan, Shenzhen, it is one of the key protected cultural relics in Shenzhen. About 100 meters along the uphill road, you can see the gate of the fort city. On the right side of the stone stands a poem tablet engraved with Lin Zexu's poems. Among them is a famous poem written by Jiang Zemin in 1990 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Opium War: "if we want to benefit our country, we should avoid it because of misfortune and fortune.".
Development history
Chiwan was originally built in 1669. There were 12 raw iron cannons. They were all located at the top of Shekou peninsula. They were located on the mountain and the sea. The left and right cannons were like horns, which clamped down Chiwan Port. Xiongshi Lingding Sea was the main sea barrier during the war. In 1839, when Lin Zexu, the governor of Huguang, was defending the Pearl River Estuary, he rebuilt the Chiwan fort and played an important role in banning smoking. Guan Tianpei, the commander-in-chief of Guangdong Navy, defeated the British in Lingdingyang and chuanbiyang by using the fort.
Main attractions
Only the left Fort at the top of Yingzuishan is well preserved in Chiwan fort. The local authorities repaired the fort in 1985. In 2000, Nanshan District invested more than 200000 yuan to repair it, and locked all four barracks for protection. The restored left Fort stands on the top of Yingzui mountain, 170 meters above sea level. It faces south from north and is divided into two parts: the platform and the wall. It is 26.2 meters long, 15.5 meters wide, 4.5 meters high and 3.78 meters high, covering an area of about 400 square meters.
The fort itself is divided into two layers, with Barracks at the bottom and cannons facing the Pearl River estuary at the top. The base of the fort city is built with massive granite. To the north is the entrance of the fort city. In the East and west sides of the city, there are still two remains of houses. They are the homes of the soldiers guarding the fort at that time. In the early 1980s, when experts conducted archaeology here, chessboard and chess of the Qing Dynasty were also found in the barracks of zuobantai.
The high platform in the south is more than 8 meters wide, which is the place to use artillery positions. On the fort, an ancient cannon looks at the mouth of the Pearl River. Although its barrel is rusty, its majestic and unyielding posture can still be seen.
On the wall to the west of the fort, two hundred year old banyan trees have deeply rooted their roots in the wall. They are closely intertwined with the wall. They are almost integrated with the wall. There is no fertile soil, but they are luxuriant. Life is so tough and vitality is so exuberant.
To the north of the left Fort is a bronze statue of Lin Zexu, which was made in 1985, the bicentennial of his birth. With a height of 3.2 meters and a weight of 1.8 tons, the bronze statue is the largest one of Lin Zexu in China. The statue was created by Tang Daxi, a famous sculptor in China. On the front of the marble base, it is a "memorial statue of Lin Zexu" inscribed by the late calligrapher Zhao Puchu. On the north side, it is engraved with an inscription written by Xie Hua.
