Municipal Square
Florence City Square is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy because of its beautiful buildings. It was built in the 13th and 14th centuries. It was originally built on the foundations of the demolished houses of ubeti, frabski and other imperial families.
Later, it was expanded to form today's scale. Palazzo Vecchio, the traditional administrative center in the southeast corner of the square, views the whole square. On the left side of the old palace is the beautiful late Gothic Langqi gallery. The portico was built by Benzi di gione and Simone Torrenti from 1376 to 1382. There are a group of important sculptures on display. Among them, the more famous ones are Cellini's parsius (1554) and chambologna's hyclis and centaur. On the right side of the building is bartolomio amanati and his assistants' the fountain of Poseidon (1563-1575). In the middle of the pool, on the chariot of Mara stands a huge white sea god, which Florence called "Bian cone" (a kind of Raptor). There are also colorful bronze statues around the pool. To the north of the fountain stands the statue of Cosimo I (1594) by chambologna. The square is surrounded by simple historical buildings.
