Xia Minghan's former residence is located in Yujia group, Lizi village, Hongshi Town, Hengyang County, Hengyang City. It is the first batch of Hengyang patriotism education demonstration base, Hengyang Party member education base, national patriotism education demonstration base, Hunan Provincial patriotism education base and provincial red tourist attraction.

Xia Minghan's former residence was built in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, more than 280 years ago. It is mainly composed of the former residence of Xia Minghan and the memorial square of Xia Minghan. In the former residence, nearly 400 cultural relics such as bronze statues and poetry manuscripts of Xia Minghan martyrs are displayed, and the elegiac couplets and poems inscribed by Guo Moruo, he Shuheng and other celebrities are also collected.

Layout of former residence

Xia Minghan's former residence is a typical residential building in southern Hunan in the Qing Dynasty. The courtyard faces south. It is of earth brick and wood structure. Except for the north, the exterior wall is built with green bricks, and the north is built with earth brick walls

Xia Minghan's former residence is divided into four parts: the first is the former residence management office, occupying 7 houses, which is the architectural style of exhibition hall; the second is the exhibition part of Xia Minghan's life story, occupying 12 houses; the third is the exhibition part of Ming Han's spiritual calligraphy, occupying 5 houses (including 1 hall room); the fourth is the exhibition part of Xia Minghan's old residence restoration, occupying 19 houses

In the 4500 square meter exhibition hall, there are bronze statues of the martyr and nearly 400 cultural relics. Some of them come from the places where Xia used to live and work. They also collect elegiac couplets and poems inscribed by Guo Moruo, he Shuheng and other celebrities

. The photo exhibition in the exhibition hall reproduces the glorious and revolutionary life of the martyr.

Xia Minghan's former residence is respectively equipped with Xia Minghan's life story display and Xia family life restoration display. The exhibition shows 167 precious pictures and some historical documents of each period, showing Xia Minghan's brilliant life of pursuing truth and devoting himself to the revolution. There are 262 precious treasures on display in the living area. The exhibition hall also collects elegiac couplets and poems written by Guo Moruo, he Shuheng and other celebrities for Xia Minghan

Introduction to Xia Minghan

Xia Minghan (1900-1928), whose name is guigen, was born in lizishan, Hengyang County, Hengzhou prefecture (now Lizi village, Hongshi Town, Hengyang County, Hengyang City) and a great revolutionary pioneer

On December 13, 2013, the evaluation expert group of Hunan Province's red tourism scenic spot came to Hengyang County to inspect Xia Minghan's former residence and memorial square on the spot. In Hongshi town government, an evaluation meeting was held for Xia Minghan's former residence to create a provincial Red tourism scenic spot. The former residence was assessed and accepted, and was recognized as a provincial Red tourism scenic spot
