There are more than 800 pictures and charts, 440 physical exhibits and more than 400 meters of exhibition line.
The History Museum of Peking University is located in a small west gate for off campus motor vehicles. It has three floors. From a distance, you can only see the hall on the ground floor. The History Museum of Peking University has been built since the 100th anniversary of the founding of Peking University in 1998.
School background
In the spring of 1997, Ren Yanshen, then director of the school board, first put forward the motion. Mr. Taniguchi Keitaro, a consultant of Nagoya Railway Co., Ltd., who studied in Peking University in his youth, actively advocated the motion, and dozens of enterprises, such as Dentsu Co., Ltd., responded positively and set up a fund-raising sponsor Association in Japan. In May 1998, on the occasion of the centennial of the founding of Peking University, the foundation of the History Museum of Peking University was laid and completed after three years of construction.
Based on the principle of respecting history, the museum vividly reproduces the magnificent development history of Peking University, displays 217 historical celebrities of Peking University in the past 100 years, and provides conditions for the study of school history and the collection and collection of historical relics. Jiang Zemin, then president of the people's Republic of China, personally inscribed the name of the History Museum of Peking University.
School facilities
The building area of Peking University History Museum is 3000 square meters, including three exhibition halls of "Peking University outstanding figures Exhibition" on the first floor, "special exhibition" on the first floor and "Peking University Centennial History Exhibition" on the second floor. Peking University Archives, formerly known as Peking University Archives, was built in November 1958 as an internal organization of the Party Committee Office of Peking University. In December 1982, the comprehensive archives of Peking University was established as a department level system, and in April 1993, it was renamed Peking University Archives.
