Mo Yan's former residence
Mo Yan's former residence was built in 1912 and renovated once in 1966. From 1955 to 1976, Mo Yan lived here for about 22 years from birth to leaving the army. Later, when he was in the army, he went back to his hometown to visit his relatives and lived intermittently. In 1988, Mo Yan bought a house in Gaomi County (now Gaomi City), and moved out of the old house with his wife Du qinlan and his only daughter Guan Xiaoxiao. In 1990, Mo Yan's parents also moved from here to the home of Guan moxin, Mo Yan's second elder brother. This old house has been idle since then.
Historical evolution
The old house is composed of five earthen wall bungalows with a total area of more than 60 square meters. The door faces south, and there are still some old objects used by Mo Yan decades ago in the house. There is a earth wall more than one meter high in the east-west direction. There is a courtyard in front of the door, covering an area of more than 100 square meters. It is planted with soybeans and carrots. It is usually managed by Mo Yan's 90 year old father Guan Yifan. Guan moxin, Mo Yan's second elder brother, said that in the past, there were two rooms in the old house. Later, as he, Mo Yan's elder brother and sister moved out, the dilapidated rooms were demolished and the vegetable garden was vacated.
History and culture
The exterior wall of Mo Yan's old house was hollowed out by some tourists.
Mo Yan recently issued another appeal at the "Second China Australia Literature Forum" not to go to my hometown. However, his "dissuasion" seems to have no effect. During the three-day Qingming holiday, Mo Yan's former residence received more than 1000 tourists. In addition to the simple visitors, there are also many people who "dig walls and bricks".
Since Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for literature in 2012, not only the "Shandong Gaomi township" created in his novels has been further known to readers around the world, but Mo Yan's former residence in Pingan village, Dalan Township, Gaomi City, Shandong Province has also become a new scenic spot for domestic tourists. Guan moxin, Mo Yan's second elder brother, said: "since Mo Yan won the prize, tourists have not stopped. On the first day of the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday, seven or eight hundred people visited. " The continuous flow of people also caused a certain degree of damage to Mo Yan's old house. A brick in the corner of the side box was dug away, and a little bit of the wall skin of the side box was cut off. Tourists say that taking the soil back and scattering it at home can be "gentle".
In response to Mo Yan's view that "after winning the prize, he has always kept a low profile, adding a sense of mystery to literary lovers, hoping that he can appropriately" go out "and communicate and interact with literary youth and the public", Mo Yan also expressed his views on the Sino Australian Literature Forum: what role a Nobel Prize writer should play is a problem, especially in China; whether to change after winning the prize It's a problem and a problem to change one's style of doing things. In his opinion, from the legal point of view, no matter what prize is won, it will not change the citizenship of the winner, "and your prize is not from the taxpayer." therefore, the winner of the Nobel Prize for literature has no obligation to bear more social responsibility than ordinary writers. As far as he is concerned, he just wants to go back to his desk as soon as possible, write quietly, and repay the readers with his new work. For readers, it is probably more effective to read more literary books than to take away a handful of bricks and earth from Mo Yan's old house.
artistic works
The number of literary and artistic works reflecting Mo Yan's former residence has increased rapidly since Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for literature. Mo Yan's former residence, a member of China Museum Association, a national first-class artist, the first person to paint the former residence of a famous Chinese celebrity, the first person to paint the famous town, village and street of a famous Chinese historical and cultural city, and the famous painter Mr. thumb, is the most famous, and is praised by the calligraphy and painting critic Mr. Lixin It is a masterpiece of "emotion, coldness and warmth".
