Preliminary construction of Mining Institute

In 1949, in order to meet the needs of the northeast industrial construction, the Ministry of industry of the Northeast administrative committee successively established Hegang engineering senior vocational school, Jixi Coal Mine Industrial school, Fushun engineering senior vocational school, Fuxin engineering senior vocational school and northeast coal mine workers rapid learning school.

On July 15, 1958, with the approval of the Ministry of coal industry of the people's Republic of China, Fuxin coal mining college was established on the basis of Fuxin engineering higher vocational school, which is subordinate to the Ministry of coal industry of the people's Republic of China. Guo Moruo, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, inscribed the name of Fuxin coal mining college.

From April 1961 to June 63, Fushun Coal Mine college, Liaoning coal mine normal college, Jixi Mining College and Fuxin coal mine college were merged. The school was located in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province and named Fuxin coal mine college.

On March 1, 1978, Fuxin coal mining college was designated as one of the first batch of 88 key colleges by the State Council.

In 1996, Fuxin University of mining and technology was renamed Liaoning University of engineering and technology with the approval of the State Education Commission.

In 1998, the former Ministry of coal industry was put under the management of Liaoning Provincial People's government, and the system of central and local co construction and local management was implemented.

On September 20, 2008, Fuxin basketball College of Liaoning University of technology was established.

On September 27, 2008, the University became the second batch of national college students' innovative experimental program universities of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance. In the same year, he was selected into the National College Students' innovative experiment program.

On October 8, 2009, the school held its 60th anniversary celebration.

In 2010, the University was rated as "National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.

On October 21, 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of science and technology and the Ministry of education, the science and Technology Park of Liaoning University of technology was recognized as the National University Science and technology park.

On May 6, 2011, the University became a pilot unit of industry university research cooperation mode jointly initiated by the Ministry of science and technology, the Ministry of finance, the Ministry of education, the state owned assets supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, the all China Federation of trade unions and the National Development Bank.

On September 29, 2011, the University became the second batch of excellent engineer education and training plan universities of the Ministry of education.

On August 18, 2012, the signing ceremony of Liaoning University of engineering and technology jointly built by the State Administration of work safety and Liaoning Provincial People's government was held in Huludao.

On May 22, 2013, the University was selected into the national "Midwest university basic ability construction project".

In December 2016, the University became one of the first batch of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities of the Ministry of education.

In January 2017, the implementation plan of Liaoning Province to promote the construction of world-class universities and first-class disciplines was officially issued, which determined Liaoning University of engineering and technology as the key construction University of high-level universities in China, and mining engineering as the first-class discipline.

On May 17, 2018, Tencent cloud Artificial Intelligence College of Liaoning University of technology was founded. Tencent cloud AI college is jointly built by Liaoning University of engineering and technology, Tencent cloud computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai motong Huakai Education Technology Co., Ltd.
