scenic spot
Shousheng Temple Pagoda, a national key cultural relic protection unit. The tower is located in Gaoxian Township, Taikang County, Henan Province, about 300 meters northeast of the township government. It is 41.5 meters high and its plane is hexagonal. According to the four lines on the lintel of the first level tower, "in the second year of Ming Dynasty, on March 1, when Bingyin was buried, when Wuyin was buried, the master monk of the courtyard built the monument tower of merit and virtue." According to the inscriptions, the pagoda should have been built in 1033, the second year of Dao in song and Ming Dynasties. Each side of the tower base is 4.2 meters long. Inside the tower, there is a winding Tower Road, which can climb to the top of the tower step by step. From the bottom to the top of the tower, the tower gradually converges into a hexagonal pyramid shape. The top of the tower is made of cast iron and looks like a gourd, which makes the top of the tower get the most perfect embellishment and gives people a sense of straightness and beauty. The size of the eaves is natural and appropriate, which not only protects the tower wall from snow and rain, but also gives the tower beautiful decoration. It looks solemn and formal, and has no inflexible feeling.
The tower has a long history and unique architectural style. Its complete existence provides rare material evidence for the study of the spread of Buddhism in the hinterland of the Central Plains in the Song Dynasty. After thousands of years of vicissitudes, it has been repeatedly attacked by wars and natural disasters, and stands erect without inclination, especially showing the high level of architectural art and design science. It is a treasure for the study of temple and tower architecture in Song Dynasty.
