Lanyu weather station of the Central Meteorological Bureau of the Ministry of communications, formerly known as hongtouyu weather station of Taiwan Governor's office, is located in Lanyu Township, Taitung County. At present, the weather station still retains the buildings during the Japanese rule period. On September 29, 2005, it was announced as the historical building of Taitung County with the name of "Lanyu weather station (hongtouyu weather station, Lanyu weather station)".
Lanyu meteorological station
Lanyu meteorological station is a fourth-class meteorological station of Taiwan's "Central Meteorological Bureau". Located at the southeastern end of the observation point of the Meteorological Bureau, it can be said that it is the pioneer of monitoring typhoon data, and thus has a rapid and accurate warning effect on the dynamic changes of Typhoon on the island in the future. Therefore, the station's early perception of meteorological elements plays an important role in Typhoon Forecasting, so that the densely populated residents of Taiwan island can take early precautions.
Historical evolution
Taiwan has been plagued by typhoons for a long time. Lanyu is the most outpost of typhoons. In order to strengthen the construction of the weather network, the "hongtouyu weather station of Taiwan Governor's office" was established in January 1940. Dawu and Xingang were also established at the same time. The Meteorological Office of the governor's office of Taiwan sent three people, including ryro Kawabata, Saburo Tanabe and Secretary tsuzaki, to set up a station on hongtouyu island by fishing boat from Xingang fishing port around May of that year. The place near the lighthouse in the Northern Cape was originally the scheduled place. The survey results doubted the objectivity of wind observation, and determined that the original scheduled observation point was not suitable for setting up a station. After that, they returned to the north to report. About a month later, they sent more architects from the governor's office Then he went to the central hill of hongtouyu, where he was waiting. With the assistance of the local police station, he recruited more than ten ethnic minorities as the service team. He opened the road with a mountain knife and prepared the ground at an altitude of about 300 meters. The wind observation was built on the top of the mountain. The project was completed in 1941. The observation work began to operate normally since January 1942. Apart from the difficulty of transportation and living resources, and the threat of endemic diseases such as malaria and tsutsugamushi, the medicine of the outlying islands was still backward in the initial stage of the station's establishment.
Taiwan recovered on October 25, 1945. In October 1946, the office of the chief executive of Taiwan ordered the meteorological station of Taiwan Province to receive it by telegram "Zhi you Ma Zhao Cai Zi No. 35959". In early 1947, director Lin Bingheng, staff Zhang Jindi and Xie Lizhu of Taiwan Meteorological Bureau took over the station. The name of the station was changed to Lanyu weather station of Taiwan Meteorological Bureau. The station was bombed by Allied planes during the Second World War. At that time, it was almost in ruins and the observation equipment was too old to use. The overall environment was renovated and the instruments and equipment were repaired After that, the surface meteorological observation was resumed on July 1, 1947.
In January 1940, the hongtouyu weather station of Taiwan Governor's office was established.
Normal operation started on January 1942.
In 1947, it was renamed Lanyu weather station of Taiwan Meteorological Bureau.
In January 1948, it was transformed into Lanyu weather station of Taiwan Meteorological Institute.
On September 1, 1965, it was transformed into Lanyu weather station of Taiwan Meteorological Bureau.
On July 1, 1971, it was restored to the Lanyu weather station of Taiwan's "Central Meteorological Bureau".
On November 10, 1976, it was renamed Lanyu meteorological station of Taiwan's Central Meteorological Bureau.
On August 1, 1989, it was renamed as Lanyu meteorological station of Taiwan's "Central Meteorological Bureau".
Meteorological Service
Observation items
Surface meteorological observation: the surface meteorological automatic forecasting system is used to observe the atmospheric pressure, temperature, wind direction, wind speed, humidity, cloud, weather phenomenon, precipitation, solar radiation, sunshine, visibility, evaporation and other meteorological elements at regular intervals every day. In addition to the manual observation of cloud, weather phenomenon, evaporation and visibility, other items are observed automatically through the intranet The system will collect data and send it to the bureau every three hours to meet the needs of weather forecast and analysis. At the same time, it will collect climate data through the query workstation.
Earthquake observation: the station is equipped with SMA1 strong earthquake accelerometers and a-900 strong earthquake accelerometers. In case of an earthquake, they are immediately transmitted to the Seismological Center of our bureau for earthquake research and release.
Atmospheric background monitoring: it is the fourth section of the second group to monitor and analyze the atmospheric composition in Lanyu area. On June 16, 1995, we started to carry out the "climate change monitoring" project. The monitoring items include carbon monoxide CO, carbon dioxide CO2, sulfur dioxide SO2, ozone O3, nitric oxide NO, nitrogen dioxide NO2 and nitrogen oxides NOx analysis, ultraviolet ray analysis UVA-1, UVB-1 and total radiation observation.
Weather forecast: all kinds of weather forecast, special report and tide data released by weather forecast center and walrus forecast center.
