Folklore
It is said that Yang Wulang once became a monk in Taiping Xingguo temple in Wutai Mountain. He was remonstrated by Shi Rui and was a disciple of Zhenbao. Because of his patriotic spirit of resisting aggression, after the destruction of the Taiping Xingguo temple, the monks of the temple worshipped the statue and were favored by tourists. In today's treasure house of Xiantong temple, the "iron stick" that Yang Wulang used to kill Han Chang is still preserved. It is engraved with the words: "it weighs 81 Jin, made by Xie Ronglan and Duan Sili."
The story of Yang Wulang's becoming a monk in Wutai Mountain has been handed down for a long time. According to legend, Taizong of Song Dynasty was escorted by Yang family and son to tour Wutai Mountain. When Taizong of the Song Dynasty went to the Taiping Xingguo temple to worship Buddhism, Yang Wulang met the abbot Ruijian in the temple. They got along very well. Ruijian intended to make him a monk. When Liao soldiers broke the border, the Yang family general was ordered to resist. When he left, Ruijian gave him a burden, and told him not to open it at ordinary times, but to open it again in case of emergency. It can help you to be lucky in case of death. Don't want the golden beach war, because pan Renmei deliberately framed, Qilang eight tigers died four, captured two.
Yang Wulang broke through the encirclement and came to a forest. There was no way to escape before, and then there were pursuers. At this critical moment, he thought of Ruijian's command and found out the burden. It was a monk's hat and a black cassock. Yang Wulang resented that the treacherous officials were in charge, and Zhongliang was injured, so he decided to abandon his armor and become a monk. The way is to put down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha. So he made a quick decision and walked out of the woods wearing a monk's hat and a black cassock. Seeing that he was a monk, Liao Bing ignored him. After that, Yang Wulang went straight to Taiping Xingguo temple in Wutai Mountain, worshipped Ruijian as his master and became a monk.
Although Yang Wulang left home, he still practiced martial arts every day. Weapons such as knives, spears, swords and halberds were inconvenient for Buddhists to use, so he asked someone to build a big iron bar weighing 81 Jin. The young monks in the temple saw that he was extremely powerful and had excellent martial arts skills, so they followed suit and organized a monk army in the temple.
In the battle of Jinshan, Liao soldiers won, and most of the Yang generals were killed. Han Chang felt that there was no one in the Song Dynasty. So he was ordered by Empress Xiao to lead his troops south in an attempt to capture Bianliang.
After war
When the soldiers entered Yanmen pass, the king of song ordered LIULANG to meet the enemy. LIULANG knew that Han Chang was powerful and felt weak. He wanted to ask his five brothers to help him, so he ordered Jiao Zan to invite him under the pretext of imperial edict. Do not want to five Lang is angry emperor fatuous, harm me Zhongliang, said: "poor monk has been out of the world, not by Royal control."
Later, Baxian king, who was escorting grain and grass, wrote a letter and asked Wulang to get out of the mountain. So Wulang took off his cassock and ordered 500 monks to kill the general. During the war, he held an iron bar and split Hanchang's head in two. As a result of excessive force, the iron bar hit the big stone on the edge of the battle, sparks splashed, the stone smashed, and the iron bar broke in two. This iron stick was originally kept in Wulang Hall of Taiping Xingguo temple. The staff is 8 feet long, 0.5 cm thick and weighs about 81 Jin. It is engraved with the words "Duan Sili made" on its surface. Now, it has been preserved in the "Buddhist treasure house" as a precious cultural relic.
Wulang is a Buddhist hero. After Wulang, monks are better than Wulang. According to Qingliang mountain records, "after Wulang, Zhenbao was born in daizhou. He took righteousness as the quality of life and death, and was well received by Emperor qinzong. During the rebellion of Jingkang, the treasure was obtained by the chieftain of Jin, and the court resisted the rebellion.
Jin couldn't bear to kill, but he was persuaded and ignored. And he said, "if I promise the emperor of song to die as a Buddhist disciple, it should not be a lie. I'm happy to be killed. " Today, although the temple commemorating monk Zhenbao has disappeared, his lofty national integrity will always be respected and remembered by people.
