Cangxi Village

Cangxi ancient village is one of the representative villages at the junction of Jiangxi and Anhui since the Song Dynasty, with a long history. In the village, a large number of ancient dwellings, ancient buildings and ancient streets can be seen everywhere. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhu Hong, the 13th ancestor of Zhu family, had a close contact with Zhu Xi in Wuyuan, so he introduced a series of Huizhou architectural structures, and formed the architectural style of imitating Huizhou and having the characteristics of Fuliang. At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, the six tea houses in the village developed continuously, and a large number of rich merchants emerged, leaving many beautiful buildings with gorgeous decoration. Cangxi ancient village has a history of more than 1700 years, and was selected into the fifth batch of "famous historical and cultural towns and villages in China" in December 2013.

Cangxi Village

Cangxi village in Fuliang County is the fifth batch of famous historical and cultural villages in China and the second batch of provincial historical and cultural villages in Jiangxi Province. It is located in the northeast of Fuliang County, 4km away from Jingdezhen Huangshan tourist road, 5km away from Legong township government, 60km away from Fuliang County and 70km away from Jingdezhen city.

On December 25, 2019, Cangxi village was selected into the first batch of national forest villages list.

Historical evolution

Cangxi village is one of the representative ancient villages at the junction of Jiangxi and Anhui since the Song Dynasty. It has a long history, profound cultural heritage, brilliant cultural landscape and simple residential buildings. As a result, there are many pines and clear and beautiful streams around the village, so it is named Cangxi, which later evolved into Cangxi. The whole village has beautiful environment and beautiful scenery. All the houses in the village are built according to the terrain. The layout of the village fully conforms to the ancient geomantic concept of "pillow mountain, ring water and face screen", which reflects the aesthetic demand of "harmony between man and nature" in traditional culture. Since ancient times, there have been outstanding people and many famous people here, and "three examples, five tributes and 48 shows" once dominated Fuliang County. At the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, because of the development of tea brands, a large number of rich merchants emerged, leaving many beautiful buildings with gorgeous decoration.

The village belongs to the landform of tectonic denudation mountains and hills, and the mountains belong to the remnant vein of Guniujiang in Anhui Province. The mountains and water bodies are east-west, end-to-end. It is a subtropical monsoon climate with abundant rainfall and sunshine. The annual average temperature is 17 degrees, the annual average precipitation is 1780 mm, and the frost free period is about 250 days. Now it covers an area of 9 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 9 villager groups, which are divided into upper, middle and lower natural villages, with more than 250 households and more than 1000 people. There are 1020 mu of paddy field, 300 mu of dry land, 800 mu of tea garden and 12340 mu of forest land. The main income sources of the village are agriculture, forestry and tea. Among them, tea making and tea oil account for a large proportion of villagers' income. Tea is its traditional industry. There were six tea brands in the village in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
