Development history

Shubao tower is located in the middle of Mangshi pedestrian street. The tower has a history of more than 200 years. Because it was built in jielie village in the past, it is called "Guangmu jielie" in Dai language and translated into Chinese as "Tiecheng tower". Qianlong 33 years (1768), the Qing army triumphed in Wanding. Therefore, the time of building the tower should be around 1769. During his tenure of office (1826-1849), the 19th chieftain Fang Chengen rebuilt the tower for the sake of his son.

The tower is of brick and stone structure, with octagonal base and beaded cone, about 10 meters high. After that, jielie village was destroyed by the war. The residents fled and did not return. There was no one to manage the pagoda. About a hundred years ago, a banyan tree grew in the crevice of the tower. After several times of wind and rain, the twisted roots gradually wrapped the tower, forming the wonder of today's tree wrapped tower.

The villagers were deeply moved by their faithful love, so they buried them in the same tomb. Breaking the Convention, they built a love tower on the tomb. The parrot lost its master and flew to the top of the tower every day to cry. It takes a seed of banyan and sows it in the crack of the tower. As time goes by, banyan trees take root and grow up slowly, forming today's wonder of Baota.

It was rebuilt in 1985. On the base of the pagoda, there are four exotic animals "gaduo" and four small pagodas. The statues of Buddha are revered in the shrines inside the pagoda and protected by railings. It is listed as one of the provincial places of interest in Yunnan.
