Historical evolution

In 1956, according to the deployment of the central government, Shanghai First Medical College (now Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University) moved to Chongqing to establish Chongqing Branch of Shanghai First Medical College, and then Chongqing Medical College was established independently.

In September 1958, the medical committee of Chongqing Medical College was established, which is responsible for leading the teaching, medical treatment, scientific research and administration of the hospital.

In July 1959, the College held the first general meeting of all Party members to discuss the leading role of teaching.

In the cultural revolution, medical education has been greatly impacted, but the majority of teaching staff still made some achievements.

From July 1970 to July 1972, the college was entrusted by Chengdu Military Region to hold military medical training courses, training 307 PLA cadets.

From 1972 to 1976, the college enrolled 2113 workers, peasants and soldiers from five three-year programs.

In April 1975, the college opened a pilot class of "she Lai she Qu", which lasted for two years with 50 students.

In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.

In 1985, Chongqing Medical University was renamed Chongqing Medical University with the approval of the Ministry of education. It was once subordinate to the Ministry of health, Sichuan Provincial People's government and Chongqing Municipal People's government.

In October 1988, the first faculty Congress was held.

In May 1997, the school was transferred from Sichuan Provincial Education Committee to Chongqing Municipal Education Committee, and the affiliated hospitals were also transferred from Sichuan Provincial Department of health to Chongqing Municipal Health Bureau.

In January 1999, it was selected into the first batch of national college students' cultural quality education bases.

In May 2001, the school started the site selection of the new campus, and finally decided to settle in Shapingba District.

In June 2001, the Ministry of Education decided to support Chongqing Medical University by Huazhong University of science and technology.

In 2002, Chongqing staff medical college and Chongqing school of traditional Chinese medicine were merged into Chongqing Medical University to establish Applied Technology College and College of traditional Chinese medicine respectively.

Since 2003, three provincial and ministerial key laboratories have been established.

In 2008, the Ministry of education and Chongqing Municipal strategic cooperation agreement identified the University as a key university.

In 2010, it was selected as the national "characteristic key discipline project" construction university.

In September 2012, the school was approved as one of the first batch of 2011 plan collaborative innovation centers in Chongqing - Chongqing micro non-invasive medicine collaborative innovation center.

In November 2015, the Chongqing Municipal People's government, the national health and Family Planning Commission and the Ministry of Education jointly issued the "opinions on building Chongqing Medical University", marking that the University was successfully approved as the first batch of local medical universities jointly built by the national health and Family Planning Commission (now the national Health Commission), the Ministry of education and the provincial government, and officially entered the ranks of "jointly built by provinces and ministries".

In 2016, it became one of the first local universities to set up the "discipline innovation and talent introduction plan for colleges and universities" (111 plan).

In June 2017, Yidu cloud medical data Research Institute of Chongqing Medical University was founded, which is the first secondary college for medical big data analysis and research in domestic universities.

In September 2019, the University was approved to build a collaborative innovation center by the Ministry of education.

On March 19, 2020, Chongqing Medical University was approved to build the State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound Medical Engineering jointly built by the Ministry and the province. On May 12, he joined the University Alliance of Chengdu Chongqing double city economic circle.
