Yeting's former residence is located in Zhoutian village, Qiuchang street, Huiyang, Guangdong Province, and in yeting general Memorial Park.
Yeting's former residence was built in 1884 by yepeilin, yeting's grandfather.

Historical evolution
In 1884, ye Peilin, yeting's grandfather, built a small Hakka enclosed house, which was the predecessor of yeting's former residence.
On September 10, 1896, Ye Ting was born in the Hakka enclosed house built by his grandfather Ye Peilin, where he spent his childhood and adolescence.
On July 1, 1979, after renovation, Ye Ting's former residence was opened to the public for the first time.
On July 1, 1980, after maintenance, it was officially opened to the outside world. Jiang Zemin inscribed a plaque on his former residence: "former residence of general Ye Ting.".
In 2003, the people's Government of Huiyang District carried out large-scale renovation and expansion of yeting's former residence. A 2000 square meter square of yeting's former residence was built in front of the gate of the former residence, and a bronze statue of yeting was erected in the center of the square, with additional field tools and daily necessities for yeting's family.
In 2010, the original appearance of yeting's former residence and its surrounding environment has been fully restored: relying on yeting's former residence and yeting memorial hall, taking the life and growth background of general yeting as the main line, integrating Hakka cultural resources such as bifailou and huilonglou.
In 2011, yeting memorial hall was moved to Zhoutian village, Qiuchang street. Yeting's former residence, yeting memorial hall, Tengyun school, reading Pavilion, etc. constitute yeting general memorial garden.

Yeting's former residence is a small Hakka enclosed house with a construction area of 240 square meters and a layout of two courtyard,
It has a width of 15 meters, a depth of 16 meters and a height of 5 meters. It has four rooms, two halls, a kitchen and a patio. In front of the gate, there is a Heping, 36 meters long and 20 meters wide, with a wall. There is a pavilion near the former residence, which is 5 meters long and 4.8 meters high. There are 0.8 meters high guardrails between the pillars of the pavilion. There are entrances to the north, West and south of the pavilion. Ye tingshao often studies here, so he later called it the reading Pavilion.
The corridor room on the left side of the gate is Ye Fuping's bedroom, the right side is Ye Qiuping's bedroom, and the east side is Ye Ting's parents' bedroom. To the west of the hall is a small bedroom with only a few square meters, where Ye Ting and his wife live. Opposite the bedroom door, there is a small storage room. To the west of yeting's room is a display room for yeting's revolutionary activities.

Ye Ting's former residence is a typical Lingnan farmyard and a Weilong house with strong Hakka characteristics. It has a history of more than 100 years.
Yeting's former residence is located in the north and south, adjacent to huishuilou, huiyuanlou and ruishiwei, which are three Hakka villages with unique architectural style.
There is a patio, a screen and a nave inside. The house is of brick and tile structure. Ye Ting's former residence is located in the north to the south. The furnishings in it are basically the same as they used to be, maintaining the simple living scene of Lingnan Hakka farmyard.
Cultural relics
There are two wooden chairs in the main hall of Ye Ting's former residence. On the wall are photos of Ye Ting's parents and his family.
Over the small table near the west wall of general Ye Ting's bedroom, there is a picture taken by Ye Ting in Macao in 1936. It was taken before Ye Ting accepted Mao Zedong's invitation to Yan'an. At that time, he refused Chiang Kai Shek's invitation to take the post of the first commander of the central army and accepted the post of the New Fourth Army. This is a landmark photo in his military career.
In the storage room opposite the bedroom door, there are farm tools used by general Ye Ting's family, things used in the field, baskets, hoes, spades and mills, sickles for harvesting, and small stone mills for grinding rice. There are damaged cloaks on the wall.
The exhibition room of yeting's former residence displays five groups of materials and objects of yeting's revolutionary activities. More than 150 photos, objects and cultural relics are displayed in the former residence, which roughly summarizes yeting's life.

Ye Ting (1896-1946), formerly known as Xun, was a Hakka from Huiyang, Guangdong Province,
He is one of the founders of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. Mao Zedong once said to his face that he was "the first commander in chief of the Communist Party, and the war history of the people's army should start from you.". In 1924, he went to the Soviet Union's Eastern labor University and military school to study. He returned to China in 1925. During the first Civil Revolutionary War, he was head of the independent regiment of the National Revolutionary Army, commander of the 24th division and commander of the 11th army. In 1927, he took part in Nanchang Uprising and Guangzhou Uprising. During the Anti Japanese War, he was the commander of the New Fourth Army. In 1941, he was illegally arrested by the KMT during the Wannan incident. He was imprisoned in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, Enshi, Hubei Province, Guilin, Guangxi Province, and finally moved to the concentration camp of "Sino US Institute of special technology cooperation" in Chongqing. On April 8, 1946, he was killed in a plane crash on his way back from Chongqing to Yan'an.

On July 1, 1979, with joint funding from Guangdong Provincial People's government and Huiyang County People's government, Ye Ting's former residence was repaired for the first time to restore its original appearance, and was opened to the public on July 1 of the same year.
