"Bangpu" in Tibetan means "dibian of Caoba". It is named because it is located at the edge of the grass dam at the foot of a holy mountain in sangdui village, Daocheng County, 32 kilometers northwest of the county. Karmapa dusongqinba, the first great magic king of the Qing Dynasty, was founded in 1178 (the fifth year of Chunxi in the Southern Song Dynasty), and is now one of the representative temples of the Bai religion. In 1984, the temple was renovated and reopened. It covers an area of more than 300 mu and has nearly 100 monks. In the temple, there is an eight year old body and a 70 year old self sculpted bronze statue of master gamaba dusongqinba from the Gaozong period of the Southern Song Dynasty. On the rocks around the temple, master dusongqinba's praising words and deer totem painted with his own blood are still preserved. According to legend, there is a secret cave on the mountain behind the temple. After three years and three months of practice, people can stand off the ground.
