Former Foshan University
In June 1958, based on Nanhai Normal University, Foshan normal college was established in Bitang village. The whole school is divided into high normal school and middle normal school.
In 1959, Dongjiang Teachers College and Dongguan Teachers College were merged into Foshan teachers college. In the same year, Foshan art college was abolished, leaving some students merged into Foshan normal college and added art major; the secondary normal Department of Foshan normal college restored Nanhai normal system and belonged to Nanhai county.
In 1960, there were six subjects, namely Chinese, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and political history.
In 1962, colleges and universities adjusted and merged the two subjects of mathematics and physics of Jiangmen Teachers College into Foshan Teachers College, and decided that the college would no longer recruit students in that year, and that it would be abolished when all the students graduated in 1963.
In 1970, according to the needs of the situation, Foshan normal school was established to train junior middle school teachers in the whole region. At the beginning, the school was located in Kaiqiao middle school in Kaiping county.
In 1973, he moved to xianxihu new school building in Dali commune of Nanhai county. Recruit workers, peasants and soldiers recommended by 14 counties and cities in Foshan area.
In the autumn of 1977, with the approval of the province, Foshan normal school added junior college classes. It has four majors of Chinese, mathematics, physics and English, with a three-year schooling, which is included in the national unified enrollment plan.
In 1978, chemistry was added. The enrollment scope is 14 counties and cities in the original Foshan area. At that time, due to the limitation of school buildings, teachers and equipment, junior college classes were scattered in Foshan, Nanhai and Taishan.
In 1979, he concentrated on running schools in Foshan City, and abolished normal schools in Foshan area and changed them into normal college classes in Foshan area. There are five majors in Chinese, mathematics, physics, English and chemistry. Foshan normal school was founded in 1970 and abolished in 1979, with 755 graduates.
In April 1982, Foshan normal college was established with the approval of the State Council.
In February 1986, Foshan University was established on the basis of Foshan normal college. It has implemented two brands of Foshan University and Foshan Teachers College and a set of management system of leading group.
In March 1987, Foshan municipal government and Sun Yat sen University signed an agreement between Sun Yat sen University and Foshan Municipal People's Government on the implementation of joint education and the establishment of Foshan University as a branch of Sun Yat sen University.
In December 1990, the State Education Commission issued the notice on Approving the adjustment plan of some colleges and universities in Guangdong Province, and Foshan normal college was incorporated into Foshan University.
Former Foshan College of agriculture and animal husbandry
In 1958, Foshan branch of South China Agricultural College was established, located in Xianxi lake, Dali Town, Nanhai county.
In the autumn of 1959, Huiyang branch of South China Agricultural University and Panyu Agricultural University were merged into Foshan branch of South China Agricultural University due to the merger of regional administration.
During the "Cultural Revolution", the school was seriously damaged; all the school buildings were occupied; the school had to build a simple school nearby (the current site).
In 1962, Foshan branch abolished the majors of Agronomy, horticulture, sericulture and agricultural machinery, and only retained the major of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. The college was renamed Foshan veterinary college, which enrolled students from all over the province and trained animal husbandry and veterinary talents for the whole province.
In 1992, Foshan Veterinary College changed its name to Foshan agriculture and Animal Husbandry College.
In 1996, with the approval of the State Education Commission and the Education Department of Guangdong Province, it became the first examination school in China to set up the undergraduate and junior college self-study examination of animal husbandry and veterinary management.
Former Foshan staff medical college
In February 1924, Peng Ailian, a British nurse from church hospital of England, founded Foshan Methodist senior nursing school.
In 1937, the school was registered by the central Ministry of health, and the number of students gradually increased. Free teaching and meals are provided for students in nursing school.
In January 1951, it was renamed the Second Medical School of Guangdong Province. In December, it was renamed the second health technology school of Guangdong Province.
In September 1958, it changed its name to Foshan branch of Zhongshan Medical College, and opened a medical college.
In September 1962, it was renamed Foshan health school in Guangdong Province.
In January 1992, it was renamed Foshan staff Medical College of Guangdong Province, which was jointly managed by Guangdong Province and Foshan City.
In October 1995, with the approval of the provincial government, the original name of "Guangdong Foshan staff medical college" was changed to "Guangdong Foshan staff medical college".
In September 2001, the first undergraduate students of clinical medicine (general practice) entered the University.
Former Foshan Institute of Education
In 1960, Foshan teachers training school was established, with Chinese and mathematics majors. From the college entrance examination students each recruit a class, length of one year. The Chinese specialty is located in Huizhou normal school, and the mathematics specialty is located in the former site of Town God's Temple, Foshan. At the same time, he took over the correspondence department and 8 teachers of Guangdong normal college from Foshan normal college, and offered correspondence courses in Chinese, mathematics and biology for 3 years.
In 1963, he took over Foshan kindergarten normal school and some teachers' cadres, some books, instruments and furniture of Foshan teachers' college.
In 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began, and enrollment stopped. In 1968, the school staff were assigned to work in the "May 7th" cadre school, and the school was closed.
In 1979, Foshan teachers' training school was resumed. Some houses of the local education bureau were temporarily used as offices. A year later, the school was built at No. 45, Tongji Road.
On April 18, 1981, with the approval of Guangdong Provincial People's government, Foshan teachers' training college was established on the basis of Foshan teachers' training school.
On April 23, 1983, Foshan teachers training college was renamed Foshan education college.
Merger and formation
In March 1995, the State Education Commission approved the merger of Foshan University and Foshan College of agriculture and animal husbandry to form Foshan Institute of science and technology.
In June 2002, the college obtained the qualified evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of education.
In February 2005, with the approval of Guangdong Provincial People's government, Foshan staff medical college and Foshan education college were merged into Foshan University of science and technology to establish the Medical College of Foshan University of science and technology.
In 2007, the college won the excellent evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of education.
In July 2013, with the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the college became the master's degree awarding unit, and mechanical engineering, veterinary medicine and civil engineering became the first batch of master's degree awarding points in the first level disciplines, covering 13 second level disciplines.
In September 2015, the college was selected as one of the first batch of high-level universities in Guangdong Province.
In November 2015, the articles of association of Foshan University of science and technology came into effect after being approved by the Department of education of Guangdong Province.
In 2016, the science and Technology Park of Foshan University of science and technology was established, and the next year, it was approved as the cultivation unit of Guangdong National University Science and technology park.
In June 2017, the college became the construction unit of doctoral degree awarding project.
In June 2017, the total investment in the construction of the college was RMB 1.598 billion, and the new campus (North District) covering an area of 1468 Mu was completed.
On July 14, 2017, Foshan University of science and technology and Foshan (Yunfu) industrial transfer park jointly built a new energy industry college, and Foshan (Yunfu) hydrogen industry and new materials Development Research Institute jointly built a joint training base for college students.
In April 2019, Guangdong Taiwan Institute of artificial intelligence was established. On August 5, the college was awarded the national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience college in 2019.
On September 10, 2019, Guangdong Provincial Department of Education issued the "public notice on field investigation of four schools including Guangzhou Jiaotong University", which showed that Foshan municipal government applied for Foshan University of science and technology to be renamed as Guangdong University of science and technology
