Junzi Peak National Nature Reserve is located in Mingxi County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. It was founded in 1995. In 2003, it was approved as a provincial nature reserve by the people's Government of Fujian Province. In January 2008, it was promoted to a national nature reserve with the approval of the State Council. The total area of the reserve is 18060.5 hectares, including 7497.6 hectares of core area, 4035.8 hectares of buffer area and 6527.1 hectares of experimental area. It is a nature reserve mainly for the protection of evergreen broad-leaved forest, woody medicinal plant germplasm resources, precious timber tree species germplasm resources, key protected wild animals, migratory birds migration channel and other primitive forest ecosystems in the middle subtropical, low latitude and low altitude gentle slope.
Historical evolution
On February 11, 2003, with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's government, Mingxi junjunjunfeng Provincial Nature Reserve and Mingxi junfengshan Provincial Nature Reserve were established. On March 8, 2004, the management offices of junjunjunfeng and junfengshan provincial nature reserves in Mingxi County implemented one organization and two brands, which are sub section level organizations. There are 12 staff members in the management offices, including office, capital construction section of current account, resource protection section, science and technology section and social management section of tourism industry. On May 8, 2006, with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's government, Mingxi Junzi peak and Junfeng mountain provincial nature reserves were merged into Fujian Junzi peak nature reserve. On January 14, 2008, approved by the State Council, junjunfeng Nature Reserve in Fujian Province was promoted to a national nature reserve.
