Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum, built in the field of Xinzhuang village at the foot of Gaoligong Mountain in Tengchong, Yunnan Province, is a rural public museum with private investment. The architect designed the building as an architectural settlement composed of several small volumes, like a miniature village. The whole village, together with the museum, forms a larger Museum, because each family can show the visitors the papermaking process, while the museum concentrates the spatial experience of the village. The unique design of the museum hopes to bring visitors the experience of continuous transformation between the internal exhibition and the external beautiful pastoral landscape, so as to remind the inseparability of architecture, papermaking and environment.
The exhibition part consists of six exhibition halls with different shapes, which form a continuous tour route around the central courtyard. There are also office space, tea rooms and guest rooms inside the museum building. In the middle of the courtyard on the first floor is a tea room which can be completely opened to the courtyard. Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum
Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum is located in Longshang village, Xinzhuang village, Jietou Township, Tengchong County, Baoshan City.
Development history
According to the genealogy of Longshang village in Xinzhuang village, "the first ancestor, long Lin, was born in xiamatou, Jiangning County, Changsha Prefecture, Hunan Province. In the 15th year of Hongwu, he conquered Dali, and in the 16th year of Hongwu, he entered Dengchuan, mengsuo and other places. In the late Ming Dynasty (1628 A.D.), the top army of the ten dynasties was transferred to Tengchong by the emperor, and was organized into a family of Wang's Fifth Army in the upper left. It was under the control of the capital of Wang Jieyuan general banner in Tengchong County, Yunnan Province, and a family of Xiaoqi in the book. It lived in a branch of longjiaying in Daju, a branch of Xinzhuang in Jietou, a branch of shunshan, and a branch of luomei. " This branch of Longshang village and Longzhong village in Xinzhuang village is the ancestor of manual papermaking. It is inferred that the papermaking technology of Xinzhuang village should be introduced from the Central Plains. It is the ancestor of the long family who brought the papermaking technology to Xinzhuang and used the local rich plant fiber raw material dianjiexiang bark (textured bark), which has been inherited from generation to generation. "Hand to mouth" formed a higher level of skills.
In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, with the development of local economy and the prosperity of culture, Tengchong gradually became the cultural center of Southwest Yunnan, and Xinzhuang paper making played an important role in it. After liberation, Xinzhuang used to use production teams as a unit to make paper and implement the collective system. Due to the impact of commune production and the development and spread of modern paper technology, the enthusiasm of paper makers for production and innovation was hit. The paper industry in the villages around Xinzhuang gradually declined or even disappeared, and the paper technology in Xinzhuang village was greatly affected. After the reform and opening up, the family production was restored, the inheritance mode was more free, and the papermaking technology was restored and developed.
This is a rural public museum with private investment. It will be a base for exhibition, research, protection and development of local traditional papermaking. The original intention of the construction is not only to protect and promote the ancient craft and culture of handmade paper, but also to take the construction of museum buildings as a component of this traditional culture and its values. Handmade paper and museum become the material carrier of regional cultural system.
Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum not only protects and inherits local traditional skills, but also actively promotes the communication between local communities and paper inheritors and the outside world.
architectural composition
Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum is built in the field beside Xinzhuang village at the foot of Gaoligong Mountain in Tengchong, Yunnan Province. The purpose of the building is to show visitors the ancient handmade paper craft and cultural products related to handmade paper. The architect designed the building as a building settlement composed of several small volumes, just like a miniature village. The shape and mutual relationship of individual buildings continue the characteristics of Xinzhuang village space.
The interior of the museum building also has office space, tea room and guest room. In the middle of the courtyard on the first floor is a tea room which can be completely opened to the courtyard. The second floor is the office space, which is connected to the guest rooms on the third floor and a roof platform with mountain view through an outdoor staircase.
Gaoligong Handmade Paper Museum adopts low energy consumption and degradable natural materials such as local fir, bamboo and handmade paper to reduce the impact on the environment. In the form of construction, it truly reflects the internal logic of material, structure and other elements, as well as the traces and characteristics of the construction process. The building adapts to the local climate, makes full use of the local materials, technologies and crafts, combines the traditional wood structure system and modern construction practices, and the construction is completed by local craftsmen, making the museum building itself a part of the protection and development of regional traditional resources. The exhibition part of the museum consists of six exhibition halls, corresponding to different papermaking processes, forming a continuous visiting line around the central courtyard in space. When visitors walk through the exhibition, they sometimes see the beautiful natural landscape outside. This kind of indoor and outdoor experience, as well as the continuous cross conversion between man-made and nature, forms a hint that the relationship between handmade papermaking and the local environment blends with each other.
