Collection in the Museum
Heyang folk song is an original ballad created by the working people in the south of Zhangjiagang for thousands of years. It takes Fenghuang town as the inheritance center and is distributed around Heyang mountain. Because Heyang folk song exists in the pure farming circle of the water town in the south of the Yangtze River, it rarely survives independently under the influence of foreign culture. It has strong inheritance and is one of the main cultural and entertainment activities in the rural areas in the past, and has its own distinctive characteristics.
Heyang folk songs collected more than 30000 lines, plus nearly 10000 lines of religious ritual folk songs, a total of nearly 40000 lines. Among them, "Shengguan resurrection" has 6448 lines, and its representative work "ZHUGE" is considered to be the prototype of the handed down ancient ballad "tance", which is a rare "living fossil" of Chinese folk songs. Its discovery rewrites the history of Chinese poetry and music. According to experts, it is the oldest, longest and most complete folk song in China. It has a history of more than 6000 years and is a very valuable spiritual wealth.
Heyang folk songs retain many ancient Wu dialects, which are valuable materials for the study of Chinese language, as well as important materials for the study of ancient Chinese countryside, farmers and agriculture. As an important part of Wu songs, Heyang folk songs have been listed in the national intangible cultural heritage. Fenghuang town is also named as "China's historical and cultural town", "China's Wu Song Town", "China's folk culture (folk song) art town".
