history
Beipu Township, Emei Township and Baoshan Township, formerly known as "DAAI", were the social areas of the daokas in Pingpu nationality. It had not been reclaimed by the Han people until the early years of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty. In the sixth year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1826), Li Siye, a member of the Danshui department, planned to reclaim the southeast mountain area of Zhuqian City, so he set up a pass in shixianlun and recruited civilians to garrison. At the same time, he ordered Jiang xiuluan, Prime Minister of jiuxiong linzhuang, to continue to build a pass on the top of nanhenggang to shorten the border. However, due to the high cost of land reclamation, Jiang xiuluan proposed to raise funds to set up the overall management of reclamation households. After the proposal was approved, Prime Minister Lin Dexiu of Zhuqian Ximen raised ten shares each, taking "Jin Guangfu lianshe" as the general reclamation household. Lin Dexiu stayed in Zhuqian city to handle the official business and accounting affairs of yamen, while Jiang xiuluan supervised the situation on the spot. Under the leadership of Jiang xiuluan, the reclamation people moved from Zhudong to Beipu basin and built jinguangfu mansion as the reclamation base. Later, they reclaimed Puwei, Yuemei (now Emei) and shitouping. During this period, Jiang xiuluan also planted bamboos on the west, South and north sides of Beipu as walls and built four gates. By the time of Xianfeng, almost all the land in Beipu, Emei and Baoshan had been reclaimed.
Jin Guangfu's reclamation was terminated after the Japanese occupation, but Beipu was still busy. At that time, there was a tea testing ground. Because the tea produced was very popular in Japan, there were many factories for a time. It was not until the collapse of the company of tea king Jiang Axin in 1964 that the tea industry in Beipu declined. In addition to the tea industry, Beipu's prosperity also benefited from the nearby coal mines. However, after the mineral resources dried up, Beipu also declined. Later, due to the relocation of Beipu Township Office on Beipu street to Zhongshan Road, and the widening of the third line of Taiwan, the former commercial splendor was almost completely lost. However, due to Hakka snacks and nostalgic trend of old streets, the place became a tourist attraction.
characteristic
Beipu district is developed for the purpose of land reclamation, so the housing is very close, which has achieved the defensive effect. The center of the block is Jin Guangfu guild hall and CI Tian palace, the local belief center. The buildings to the east of CI Tian Palace are mostly Tuli houses, which are the residence of the early reclamation people. The west part of the block is mostly long street houses, whose first entrance is mostly two stories high and three bays wide, which is the area built after the local situation is settled.
In the past, the section from Beipu street to Nanxing street in front of CI Tian palace was called "Shangjie", while the section from Nanxing street to Beipu elementary school was called "xiajie".
