Zhangjiakou Castle

Zhangjiakou Fort (local reading B ǔ): commonly known as Baozili, it is located in the middle of Qiaoxi District of Zhangjiakou City. It is the "origin" and "root" of Zhangjiakou City. It is the historical witness of Zhangyuan's gradual growth and prosperity after nearly 600 years of historical vicissitudes.

According to historical records, Zhangjiakou fort was built in 1429, which has a history of nearly 600 years. It is an important military garrison castle on the defense line of the Great Wall, and is known as the "military city" in Northern Xinjiang. With the prosperity of zhangku Avenue, the "Northern Silk Road", the military function of Zhangjiakou fort was gradually replaced by the function of commercial trade. In its heyday, there were more than 1600 ticket and business houses in Zhangjiakou fort, with the highest annual trade volume of 150 million taels of silver. Zhangjiakou castle has more than 700 cultural relics and historic sites, including 93 valuable key courtyards. It is one of the most complete Ming and Qing architectural castles preserved in large and medium-sized cities in China, and can be called "Ming and Qing architectural museum". However, despite this, Zhangjiakou fort, which has important historical and cultural value, has been little known. It was not until 2008 that Zhangjiakou fort was rated as a key cultural relics protection unit in Hebei Province.

At the beginning of May 2013, the State Administration of cultural relics announced the list of the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units, among which "zhangjiakoupu" was listed. It was successfully upgraded from the original "cultural relics protection unit of Hebei Province" to "national key cultural relics protection unit"!

In recent years, the West District of Zhangjiakou bridge has transformed eight streets and alleys, including Gulou east-west street, north-south street, and madaudi street. It has protected and restored Wenchang Pavilion, Yuhuang Pavilion, luncai academy, God of wealth temple, Kangxi teahouse, dingjiangjunfu and other key scenic spots, and built new large parking lots, tourist service centers and other tourism services.
