History and Humanities
Since Huishui county was established in the second year of Yuanshou, Emperor Wudi of Han Dynasty, Jinta suffered from war and drought and was once reduced to barren land. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Mao Fengyi, the general judge of Suzhou, led the people to dig Yuanyang gorge for water diversion and irrigation, and the forefathers' grazing and farming began to flourish. At the end of the Republic of China, Zhao Jishou, a squire, set up yuanyangchi reservoir with the efforts of Jinjiu and Jinjiu counties. In the past 50 years, in order to further alleviate the contradiction of water use and the need of water conservancy and power generation, Jiefang village and Bantan reservoirs have been built successively. However, Jinta is located in the forefront of Baishuiquan sand system. With the wind blowing sand, 700000 cubic meters of sand flows into the reservoir every year. The "rice bowl" of Jinta people's survival has been severely challenged. Under the leadership of the previous county Party committees and governments, the people of the whole county have made unremitting efforts to control the sand damage, and have made great achievements in sand fixation and reservoir protection by means of artificial burial, grass grid sand fixation, afforestation and other methods Great achievements have been made.
