Development history
Dali Museum site in Ming Dynasty is divided into Xunyi West Road Department.
Qing Kangxi three years (1663), built for Yunnan governor yamen.
In the sixth year of Xianfeng (1856), after the anti Qing uprising army led by Du Wenxiu captured Dali City, the yuan Shuai mansion was set up in the governor's mansion, and Du Wenxiu was elected as the "Grand Marshal of the presidential army".
In 1872, after the failure of the uprising, it was restored to Yunnan Tidu Yamen.
After the revolution of 1911, it was transferred to Tengda, Chuda and Dianxi division to manage the headquarters. After liberation, it was transferred to the 14th army of the people's Liberation Army and built into a military kindergarten.
In 1986, it was transferred to the local government and built as Dali Museum.
On October 1, 1988, it was officially opened to the outside world.
In 2011, a forest of Steles exhibition area covering an area of 2650 square meters was formed.

Exhibition hall of historical relics
Dali has a long history, known as the "famous nation of literature", leaving a lot of rich cultural heritage. Beiqiu site of Yinsuo island in the east of Dali sea is the earliest Neolithic site in Yunnan, which has been more than 5000 years. In 1253 ad, Kublai Khan, the emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, led his troops to destroy Dali and establish Yunnan Province. A series of measures were taken to develop production and transportation, which made Dali's agriculture, handicraft industry, commerce and culture develop to a certain extent. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, officials at all levels of Dali government and county were sent from other places. The productivity was further improved, and the porcelain handicraft industry of Dali began to develop. In the Qing Dynasty, the governor's office was set up in Dali, which made Dali become the political, cultural and economic center of Yunnan again. The historical exhibition hall displays the relics left over from the process of historical development.
Buddhist art exhibition hall
When the Three Pagodas of Chongsheng temple were repaired in 1978 and the Buddha pagoda was repaired in 1981, thousands of precious religious relics of Nanzhao and Dali periods were cleared up. The metal statues of Nanzhao and Dali periods are called "Dali Buddha" by domestic cultural and Museum circles, Buddha lovers and collectors. The exhibition hall of Buddhist art displays Buddhist statues of different periods unearthed and collected in Dali.
Du Wenxiu uprising photo exhibition hall
In 1856, the people of all ethnic groups led by Du Wenxiu revolted against the Qing Dynasty in Yunnan, and the anti Qing regime centered on Dali was established. Du Wenxiu was elected as the Grand Marshal of the presidential army. Through the collection of pictures, materials and objects, this paper shows the process of Du Wenxiu's uprising.
Exhibition hall of ancient painting and calligraphy Museum
Among the works of calligraphy and painting in the collection are the works of famous calligraphers and painters in Ming and Qing Dynasties, such as Zhang ruitu, Weng Fanggang, Huang Shen, Zhang Zhidong and modern painter Xu Beihong.

The exhibition adopts new materials and new technologies. The museum displays 228 pieces of fine pottery figurines. The pottery figurines are vivid, different and lifelike, with a strong Han style, integrated with the cultural characteristics of the local ethnic minorities, and of high artistic and research value.

research findings
Since its establishment, the cultural relics workers of Dali Museum have published more than 40 excavation and cleaning reports and academic papers in provincial and state-level publications such as archaeology, cultural relics, Yunnan Cultural Relics and Dali culture. They have sorted out the cultural relics in their collection, annotated the mountain flower stele, written the chronicle of Dali cultural relics, participated in the Nanzhao Dali cultural relics, and published the historical records of Dali cultural relics《 The work of sorting out such books as the records of gold and stone in Dali.
In June 2002, we worked with the Provincial Institute of cultural relics and archaeology to sort out and study the excavation data of Fengyi dafengle, and published the archaeological research monograph Dali dafengle with more than 200000 words, which established a yardstick for the study of the chronological system of cremation tombs in Yunnan Province.
In August 2003, Dali Museum collection essence was published, which is the first comprehensive and systematic professional book to introduce the collection of Dali Museum since its establishment.
