outline
Badouzi is located in the northeast of Keelung. It is a natural harbor. The nearby sea area is rich in fishing. It has been an indispensable food source for the local people in the early days. In 1974, the Executive Yuan decided to build a large fishing port in badouzi to solve the problem of insufficient land for fishing boats at Zhengbin fishing port (located in Keelung port), the only large fishing port in Keelung City at that time. It planned to replace the function of Zhengbin fishing port with this new fishing port, so as to expand the commercial port land of Keelung port. Construction started in 1975, when badouzi coal mine stopped mining, and was completed in 1979.
The whole fishing port is developed in two phases. The first phase is badouzi fishing port in a narrow sense; the second phase is also called Bisha fishing port, which is a multi-functional fishing port oriented by leisure and entertainment. In addition to the direct selling center of fishing products for consumers to buy, there are also cooked food areas in the fishing port, where fresh catches can be handled by shops. After the completion of the second phase project, badouzi fishing port has become an important tourist attraction in Keelung City, attracting a large number of foreign tourists on holidays.
