Dahongpao scenic spot

Dahongpao scenic spot is named for producing the most famous Dahongpao tea in Wuyi Mountain. One of the scenic spots is Dahongpao tea tree, which is located in the basin type tea garden at the rock waist. There are 6 plants in total and protected by stone weir outside, so it is more precious. The three characters "Dahongpao" are engraved on the rock wall. There is a pavilion under the basin type tea garden, which is called Jiulong tea house. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery while tasting famous tea. The tea garden landscape of Dahongpao scenic area also includes jiulongke tea garden, which is green, fragrant and beautiful.

Dahongpao scenic spot also has the largest Buddhist temple in Wuyishan, Tianxin Yongle temple, with magnificent buildings and towering pavilions; in addition, there are niulankeng, sanhuafeng and other scenic spots.

There is another legend that once upon a time, the monk of Tianxin Temple used the tea from these tea trees to cure an emperor. The emperor draped the red robe worn by the number one scholar on the tea tree to show his gratitude, so the red robe dyed the tea tree red. There are three scarlet characters "Dahongpao" on the mountain wall. Dahongpao has dense branches and leaves, the tip of which extends upward obliquely. The leaves are wide oval, the tip droops, and the edge turns inward. The color of the leaves is dark green and shiny. If it is a new bud, it is purplish red. Every year when the tea tree sprouts in early spring, from a distance, the whole tree is as red as fire, as if in a red robe.

Dahongpao trees are more than one thousand years old. The spring water oozing from the crevices nourishes them. Therefore, they grow luxuriantly without fertilization.

From May 13 to 15 every year, local people set up a ladder to pick tea in Dahongpao. The output is very small, only a few, which is regarded as a rare treasure.
