Historical evolution
Central is the heart of Hong Kong. It is also the earliest developed area after the opening of Hong Kong Island. It is also the commercial center of Hong Kong. As early as 1841, when the British occupied Hong Kong, the British took the lead in establishing their military base in central and quickly built a number of main roads. As early as 1841, the hillside of lower Albert Road was designated as a special area for the government. As a symbol of the British Hong Kong government, the governor's office is located at the foot of Government Hill
Central position. So historically, central is part of Victoria city.
Long before and early after the Second World War, central, located on the North Bank of Hong Kong Island, was the main commercial center of Hong Kong at that time. Due to the shortage of land, during his term of office in Des Voeux (1887-1891), several reclamation projects were carried out in central. Today's Hong Kong clubhouse, Queen's Square and Legislative Council building were also built on the basis of reclamation projects.
The 1970s and 1980s were the heyday of central. At that time, central continued to build multi-storey skyscrapers, including bank headquarters, and the financial market began to flourish. Many of Hong Kong's major business activities were carried out in central. Many Hong Kong people are proud to work in central. However, due to the fact that the land in Central has not been able to meet the demand even though it has been reclaimed for many times, and the high rent of the central office, the main business district of Hong Kong Island has gradually expanded to Sheung Wan, admiralty and the North Bank of Wan Chai, and the flow of people has been slower than before. However, as the heart and financial market center of Hong Kong, business activities in central are still quite frequent.

Subsequently, the SAR government marked the location of the military wharves in the Hong Kong Central outline zoning plan (OZP) since 1998. In 2002, the SAR government applied to the Legislative Council for funding to construct the relevant projects.
In 2013, the formulation of the terminal boundary entered the final stage, and the TPB also made the revision of the draft plan. Considering the relevant historical background, the outline zoning plan was revised to reflect the final boundary and use of the military terminal.

Hong Kong Animal and plant park
It is located on the northern slope of the Laqi mountain, with the highest altitude of 100 meters and the lowest altitude of 62 meters. Covering an area of 5.6 hectares, the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Park was built in 1871 as a botanical park at that time. Until 1975, it was officially renamed the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Park to reflect its efforts to wildlife. Its construction began in 1860, and the first phase of the facilities was opened to the public in 1864. In 1871, Mr. Charles Ford was appointed as the first landscape architect of the park. Since the site of the park was used as the governor's residence from 1841 to 1842, many people still call it "bingtou garden". Garden Road, Robinson Road, glennary road and upper Albert Road surround the Hong Kong flora and fauna park. Yabingli road divides the park into two parts, which are connected by pedestrian tunnels. The eastern part of the park is called the old park, with children's playground, birdhouse, greenhouse and fountain platform garden. To the west is the new park, which mainly houses mammals and reptiles.
Chater Garden
Chater Garden, located on Chater Road, central, Hong Kong Island, is one of the most important parks in Hong Kong. Due to its proximity to the Legislative Council building and the larger square area than Queen's Square, Chater Garden has become a popular venue for Hong Kong citizens and political groups to hold demonstrations and rallies. On days when there were no demonstrations, the garden became one of the gathering places for Filipino domestic helpers. Chater Garden is equipped with pavilions, garden paths and pools.
