Lin Qiaozhi memorial hall is located in Xiamen Gulangyu Yuyuan, which can be reached from Zhangzhou road or Fuxing Road on the side of Haoyue garden. It is in memory of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi, a famous obstetrics and Gynecology expert in contemporary China.
This respected doctor was born in 1901 in a "xiaobafeng building" on Huangyan Road, Gulangyu Island. He died in 1983. The following year, in memory of this ordinary and great woman, the people of Gulangyu built the linqiao Memorial Hall and statue in Yuyuan.

Professor Lin Qiaozhi, a famous doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, built the Yuyuan building in 1984. The layout of the building is natural. There is a white marble statue of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi in the garden, and there is an exhibition room of Dr. Lin Qiaozhi's life story. Two Nanyang fir trees planted by Comrade Deng Yingchao in the garden symbolize Dr. Lin's elegant and noble character.
Lin Qiaozhi is a famous expert in obstetrics and gynecology in China. She has been a doctor for more than 60 years, and has delivered more than 50000 Chinese and foreign babies. Some of these babies have children, some have become grandparents. But she has been studying hard all her life and never married. This respected doctor was born in 1901 in a "xiaobafeng building" on Huangyan Road, Gulangyu Island. He died in 1983. The following year, in memory of this ordinary and great woman, the people of Gulangyu built the linqiao Memorial Hall and statue in Yuyuan. The word "Yuyuan" is engraved on a rectangular gray stone tablet. The statue of Lin Qiaozhi is carved out of white marble, wearing a white coat, gazing into the distance with a serene look, which shows the image of a woman who has been pure and white all her life.

Lin Qiaozhi (1901-1983) is a medical scientist and one of the main pioneers of Chinese obstetrics and gynecology. She is the first Chinese director of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and the only female member of the first Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lin Qiaozhi personally delivered more than 50000 babies in her life. She has made contributions to the research of fetal intrauterine respiration, female pelvic diseases, gynecological tumors, neonatal hemolysis and so on. She is one of the founders of modern obstetrics and gynecology in China.
Growth and study
On December 23, 1901 (the 27th year of Guangxu), Lin Qiaozhi was born into a teacher's family in Gulangyu, Siming County, Fujian Province.
In 1906, Lin Qiaozhi's mother died of cervical cancer.
In 1908, Lin Qiaozhi went to Mongolia school (women's primary school), and then studied in Gulangyu Huairen school (Gulangyu women's high school). Three years later, she was promoted to Gulangyu higher women's normal school and stayed to teach after graduation.
In 1914, Lin Qiaozhi joined Christianity.
He graduated from Xiamen women's normal school in 1921.
In 1921, Lin Qiaozhi was admitted to the Union Medical College.
In 1929, Lin Qiaozhi graduated with a doctor's degree and was employed as a doctor of Obstetrics and gynecology in Union Medical College Hospital. She was the first Chinese female doctor to graduate and stay in the hospital. She was the only winner of the Wenhai scholarship.
In 1932, Lin Qiaozhi went to London Medical College and Manchester Medical College for further study.
In 1933, Lin Qiaozhi went to Vienna, Austria for medical investigation.
In 1939, Lin Qiaozhi went to Chicago Medical School as a graduate student.
Work research
In 1940, Lin Qiaozhi was employed by the United States as a member of the Honorary Committee of natural sciences. He returned to China in the same year and was soon promoted to director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, becoming the first Chinese female director of the hospital.
At the end of 1941, Peking Union Medical College Hospital was closed due to the Pacific War.
In 1942, Lin Qiaozhi opened a private clinic in dongtangzi Hutong, Beijing. Later, Lin Qiaozhi served as the director of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Zhonghe hospital (formerly the Central Hospital, now the people's Hospital of Peking University).
In 1946, Lin Qiaozhi was employed as director of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Peking University Medical College.
In 1948, Lin Qiaozhi returned to Union Medical College Hospital, where he worked until his death.
In 1953, Lin Qiaozhi attended the world medical conference of 32 countries in the world, which was held in Austria. After the conference, he visited the Soviet Union.
In 1959, Lin Qiaozhi was elected as the only female member of the first Chinese Academy of Sciences and was appointed Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.
In 1965, Lin Qiaozhi presided over the first obstetrics and Gynecology academic conference of Chinese Medical Association.
In 1972, Lin Qiaozhi served as deputy head of the delegation of the Chinese Medical Association to visit the United States and Canada.
In 1973, he was employed as a consultant of the WHO Advisory Committee on medical research for a five-year term until 1977.
In 1974, Lin Qiaozhi was the head of the Chinese Friendship delegation, leading the delegation to visit Iran. In the same year, he went to Geneva to attend the meeting of the World Health Organization's Medical Advisory Committee. After the meeting, he visited Switzerland and France.

In December 1978, Lin Qiaozhi and Chu Tunan led a Chinese people's friendship delegation to visit four Western European countries and returned after suffering from cerebral thrombosis in Britain.
On December 2, 1980, Lin Qiaozhi was sent to the hospital.
