Yaoshan is located in the eastern suburb of Guilin City, 8 kilometers away from the city center. The main peak is 909.3 meters above sea level, with a relative height of 760 meters. It is the highest peak in Guilin city. It was named after the temple of Emperor Yao built on the mountain in the Zhou and Tang Dynasties. Yaoshan scenic spot is one of the first batch of 4A scenic spots in China and the first batch of civilized scenic tourism demonstration sites in Guilin. It is also the youth civilization unit of Guangxi autonomous region.

Development history

According to historical records, Yaoshan was originally an island in the ancient sea of Guilin, and it was also the only earth mountain in Guilin at that time, the highest and largest.

According to the annals of the state of the prefecture, Yaoshan in Guangzhou is 4000 feet high, which was seen from Panyu and Jiaoji. There are hurricanes, windy houses, trees and lakes.

Yao temple, houshou temple and baiyun temple were built on Yao mountain.

At an altitude of 200 meters, Zhu Sheng'an (also known as maoping'an) was built in the Ming Dynasty; at an altitude of 650 meters, Bailu Chan temple was built in the Tang Dynasty, the former residence of Bailu Chan Master (also known as Yuhuang Pavilion).

At the foot of Yaoshan mountain are the tomb of Jingjiang King of Ming Dynasty and the tomb of Zhang Tongchang, a hero of anti Qing Dynasty.

The origin of Yaoshan

The mountain extends from north to south. It is tall and vigorous, and looks like a Funiu. It is commonly known as Niushan. Since the Indosinian movement 200 million years ago, the Yanshanian movement 70 million years ago and the Himalayan movement 2 million years ago, the Yaoshan fault has been continuously pushed to the top, becoming the peak of Guilin mountains. Yuanyun 1.6-800 million years ago, Yaoshan was originally the sea floor. About 400 million years ago, it was uplifted to land by Guangxi movement, and then it fell to shallow sea. 360 million years ago, it was composed of sandstone and shale. After hundreds of millions of years of physical weathering, the rock mass was slowly destroyed, forming a gentle "earth mountain". Up to now, the surface clastic deposits still exist in the hillside and Piedmont.

The slide on Yaoshan mountain belongs to the Forster slide, which is rare in China. It winds around Yaoshan mountain, most of which are located in the dense forest. It is difficult to walk in many places and passes through two culverts. There are many strange pines, rocks, flowers and grasses on both sides.

The total length of the slide is 1000 meters, there are 18 bends, the height difference is 150 meters, and the average slope is 15 degrees, which is like a dragon. The design maximum speed of the slideway is 80 km / h, which is now limited to 35 km / h. The slideway is jointly built by Hong Kong Shenghua group and Guilin cableway company. Cable car incident

On the morning of May 26, 2012, the sightseeing cable car of Yaoshan scenic spot in Guilin city of Guangxi broke down suddenly, causing a total of 78 tourists trapped, including 39 domestic tourists and 39 overseas tourists. At 16:30 on the same day, the cable car fell,
